but I STILL like the eplanation for hexadecimal... I always saw that on my calculators and wondered 'what in the world is that?'
take your time, Whaat, get it right...
... have patience people! it's a virtue, and is usually greatly rewarded!
for simple line drawings, I use the shape tool in photoshop, but if you use illustrator, it's vector based, and "better".
again, the fillet.rb works fine for SketchUp... it only works on lines, if you can't get it working, it's probably a user error.
If I were going to make diagramatic drawings in SU, I would make a bunch of components that I could drag-n-drop into place. That way, you only have to make the shape once. This would save mucho time.
have you not seen Whaat's subdivide and smooth ruby (look in the ruby forum for the topic) ?
it exists. it's called fillet.rb... you can d/l it from Didier's ruby website, I'm sure.
the fillet corners on cube... asked for already, does not exist, but Whaat's subdivide and smooth ruby (look in the ruby forum for the topic) is A-FREAKING-MAZING... and is something that could probably add a 'fillet' for a cube mesh fairly easily (actually, someone asked him for that too already)
look up the protrude ruby... sounds like what you're looking for.
unfortunately the link I had for that thread is now weird - it links to a thread, but not the right one... after changing the forum, obviously the thread link numbers changed.
I think it's just called 'protrude.rb'.
Incredible work, Whaat... Google should be knocking down your door to hire you!!! This is really 'SketchUp'... with a capital "S" if you know what I mean. It's really maintaining the spirit of SketchUp but adding serious depth and power. Congrats on your amazing work.
Didier,
thank you for this great script!
I'm wondering ... Can you make it work like the follow-me tool so that you can pick the path before selecting the lines to extrude and they would follow that path?
like this image:
It would be great for creating low-poly roof flashing around a complex roof, or for low-poly sunshades with all those blades, so you don't have to make them with thickness, etc.
salut, sfec,
as tu esseyer changer les 'Shadow Settings'?
faut choisir Window>Shadows ou choisir View>Toolbars>Shadows

(on the 'invite' list, on the 'invite' list, on the 'invite' list)
"win32ole.so"
what the heck is that?! I tried to xref in a .dwg and it says
"This requires 'win32ole.so' to be in the Plugins folder! Exiting..."
any help?!
Yes, Whaat's tool is much more sophisticated programming... but if you are looking for a quick subdivide and smooth tool while you're waiting for Whaat's lovely work to be finished, Rick's plugin does work for what it does! But, indeed, they are basically 2 completely different "animals".
of course, KT renders on all 4 threads... or 8, and also net-renders... so in future...
