I have Vista but it runs under Xp as well.
At crymod.com theres lots of tweaks (and props like european trees).
Some realism tweaks are really making the best of the engine but you'll better have a new graphics card.

No problem, 9800GTX+ x 2. I've already looked at getting a copy of Crysis out of the bargain bin in the game store, unfortunately it was out of stock.

This will work with regular Crysis, right?

Wow. That game has some beautiful imagery. Is that under Vista with DX10 or another OS? I played the demo and I don't remember it being that pretty.

In that case, why don't you try pre-triangulating the model prior to obj export? THere are rubies to do that, or you could export to 3ds then bring it back in..

I did not know about the pre-triangulating rubies. I'll see what happens.

    • RE: Ivy Generator

Not a big deal about getting the model into SU for me, I'm more concerned with getting the model out of SU in order to give the ivy the proper shape to follow. Just doesn't work when the model has 50% of the tris missing and the ivy crawls nicely through all the holes.

    • Ivy Generator

This isn't really a SU topic, but I'd like to use the Ivy Generator for SU. Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with exporting/importing models for use in the generator. It seems that when I import the model into the generator, the model has half the tris deleted. In other words, for every quad that is cut diagonally into a triangle in order to create a .obj file, one of those tris is removed and I end up with a well perforated model. I've tried the SU obj exporter script and SU> DoubleCad> Blender> obj and both wind up with lots of holes.

Anybody else using the generator with the free SU and found a way to get it to work?

I've been wanting to build a home made CNC machine for a while, a rep-rap too if I could find one with a good enough resolution...

Anyway, the "printer" up there reminded me of this home made kit: http://buildyourcnc.com/blacktoe.aspx

Looks like a lot of fun.

    • RE: Introducing Google Chrome OS...

Interesting. I wonder how far the OS will go? Is it going to be a platform simply for the basics like word processing, email and various other simple apps (Google Docs, Gmail, etc...) or will it slowly morph into something where software companies will be writing the next game, 3D Studio Max or whatever for? Reading that article, it seems that it'd be a great OS for a Net Book where you just want to browse and do some really basic work with it, but that's where it stops.

With it being a Linux based OS, maybe this will finally get Linux pushed to the front as a more stable and more user-friendly OS.

Yeah Tomasz, this is what was mentioned on the TV a couple of nights ago. Heck I have no problem with the jab if it softens the effects of this flu.

EA, hope your wife gets better soon. Give her our kiond regards and tell her that we will try and encourage Cornell to say a few prayers for her quick recovery, should work as he appears to be well connected 😉

      Mike

It'd be nice if we could get our acts together here in the US to ensure some really basic preventative health care, like immunizations, are free. It'd save businesses and people lots of time and money by not being sick or potentially seriously sick. I guess we like to gamble on good health here rather than have to pay a dime of extra tax.

Thanks for the good wishes Mike, prayers are every bit as good! 👍

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw it on the address bar. For some reason that site doesn't like direct linking.

I thought it had died down. However I see that we (Irish), all 4 million of us are to receive jabs in a few months at a cost of €80 million! Worst forecast is that we could otherwise see 100,000 cases of this flu every week!

I am waiting to see the mobile bubble filter suits coming on stream soon, if they are not there already 😒

Unfortunately, it hasn't died down. My wife currently has it, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and come down with it myself. She works as a flight attendant, so you know she likely got it from someone on the aircraft crammed in with the other passengers who was sick as well traveling about the country. It's like a bad cold with a moderate fever, and the fever lasts a day or two. The cold-like symptoms have lasted 5 days so far and now she's been unfortunately blessed with mild/moderate ahem digestive issues as well. Not fun - not truly serious (hopefully) - but not fun. Hope nobody here gets it, or at least doesn't get it any worse than that.

Is evidently from the Bible that God is in control inclusiv over epidemic or pandemic catastrophes. There are mani examples…, but you don’t like verses to be mentioned, do you?!

Sir, with all due respect, this is not your personal pulpit. There are many belief systems present on this discussion board that don't need to read your internet rendition of a sandwich-board pamphlet-flinging street corner proselytizer, including myself. I value and welcome your input in a discussion and respect your beliefs, but you don't discuss, you judge and condemn; this is turning into crazy evangelical spam.

Its a big mistake to think that only one party is doing it. They do it to eachother. If you hate the conservaties because of that, you better be prepared to hate the beloved liberals for it also.

      Chris

You care correct, both parties are quite happy to run over all of us to preserve themselves and further their own selfish wants. It's simply the first time I've been directly labeled as un-American because of what I would like to see this country move towards, how I vote and because of where I live. That is the main reason for my major dislike of the Conservatives at this point; and no, I don't "hate" them, I do my best to realize that we should work towards a better country for all of us; not just the corporations, the rich, the political party, the poor or whatever special interest there is. If that means someone has to by a 100' yacht instead of a 150' yacht, fine by me. They'll have to change before they get any support from me.

As far as I'm concerned regarding the corporations, they should've been allowed to tank; no bailout. Someone would have taken their place. Automakers and banks both. This is where the liberal in me speaks: No corporation should ever, ever be allowed to get so large as to be able to place a stranglehold on the US or world economy the way companies like AIG have. It's a monopoly, limits consumer choice, reduces competition and has awful effects when corporate greed overcomes good sense.

I didn't understand a thing from that clips solo...and i'm amused about the way americans use the term anti-american when they talk about corruption or legally dubious actions, just sounds a bit self-important.

It isn't self-importance, it's one political party attempting to portray anything that they dislike as un-patriotic, traitorous, socialist, communist and any other negative term they could possibly associate with those words. IMO it borders on McCarthyism and fascism. Something that I find very disturbing about our Conservative party - they are essentially telling me that because I don't believe what they do, I'm un-American; and I'm a centrist when it comes to politics. Frankly, the Americans that use the "un-American" term regarding actions occurring outside the US and fail to compare them to what happens inside the US you should just ignore anyway, they fail to use any introspection at all.

This flu thread has been resurrected!

I can't tell if you are serious about posting that site as a valid source of information or as a joke. With all due respect, the writer accusing the WHO of being a party in a conspiracy, along with other pharmaceutical companies and authorities plotting for or allowing this to happen, is a little far fetched - fit for conspiracy theorists. While I have no love of "Big Pharma" and other health care institutions in the US especially thanks to their happiness to take everything you own in exchange for your ability to continue living, I sincerely doubt they would conspire to do this.

Great renders, guys. If I could make an observation - with the backgrounds so blurry and the models so sharp, it makes the model look like...well, a model. Maybe a little less blur in the background and more blur on the model to even things out and it might fit better in the scene. JMO, I'm no expert.
