RE: Epoxy Foam? Need help finding the right filler material.
That bartop epoxy is good stuff, I agree, but wouldn't it add a lot of weight to the structure? Have you considered using another section of PVC pipe cut at the same length and with a diameter that would fit in the void? I would think this would add to the rigidity and reduce the amount of epoxy needed.

The psychiatrist says 'I can clearly see you're nuts'. -
RE: Free software for making video tutorials?
Jackson, I use CamStudio (). I think it was recommended by someone on this forum but I can't remember who. I haven't done much other than basic screen capture video but it has worked well for me so far.

RE: FUN POLL: Left Brain vs. Right Brain?
For me she's going clockwise unless I can see the shadow that her extended foot casts, then it's counterclockwise. That shadow is the giveaway. Whether you see her extended foot behind her or in front of her as she rotates is what makes you choose a direction but if you hide the shadows there's nothing to tell you when her extended foot is in front of her. That's why you have an easier time seeing both rotating directions when you hide her feet.
Cool trick, Gai.

RE: Google Earth imagry, .shp files and sketchup
It sounds like you have access to GIS software if you're using .shp files, am I right? If so, have you tried ArcScene? I've had decent results using SU to create my 3D structures and bringing them in as symbols. Let me know if this is the case and I can dig up a link to the workflow I used.
Where in Phoenix? I lived there for a long time and did a lot of work in the utilities biz.

RE: Jedi Light Sabre
That's pretty cool but I want to see a render with it turned on!

RE: Sketchup vs. GIS
So other people DO use SU and GIS together! I hope I can help (though we will need an interpreter!)

RE: Violent videos on Google TouTube (July 2007)
Let's hope he just meant the Corner Bar, Juan. Regardless of how I feel about the youTube issue I feel it is irresponsible to attack Google or CraigD (he IS Google here) over something unrelated to SketchUp or the purpose of this forum. It is to the detriment of this forum and I, personally will miss CraigD a lot more than modelhead.

RE: Chicks dig tattoos
Nice, but you can do better. A guy like you should be designing his daughter's tattoos himself!

Single Image 3D Reconstruction
I found this link http://ai.stanford.edu/~asaxena/reconstruction3d/ and thought I would show it around here. It's an application that attempts to make a 3D model from a single photo. From the site...
"We consider the problem of estimating detailed 3-d structure from a single still image of an unstructured environment. Our goal is to create 3-d models which are both quantitatively accurate as well as visually pleasing."
There's a link to try it for yourself but it says it's currently 'down for maintenance'. I'm curious to hear what this crowd has to say.

RE: SketchUp Abstraction...
Very cool Ross, but you say it's an old model; what is it a model of? I like what you did here regardless.

RE: MS Word Question
Sorry I don't have much time to help you with this, you've been very helpful to me.
Do you have your 'hidden files and folders' hidden? In Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) go to Tools/Folder Options/View tab, under Files and Folders theres an option called 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'. If you have this checked you should be able to see this stuff you aren't able to find. If it's already set this way I'm a bit more confused about what to do next.
As far as normal.dot goes, I know it's much easier to use that file name than to try to use something different. You might also try putting text in the normal.dot as you edit it to see if your changes are sticking/working, it looks like you may already be doing that.
Good luck, I'll try to check back later.
