    • RE: Kitchen render

      That looks awesome!

My only slightly negative comments are:

The bowl of fruit - looks great, awesomely real, but it really attracts the eye. It is quite difficult not to focus on it so I would think about toning it down (or selling fruit)

the scene outside the window doesn't quite work. Because of the cool colours used and the contrast between that and the muted, warm tones of the kitchen itself, again it stands out. It is probably a desired effect to emphasise the warmth and comfort of the kitchen but it draws the eye a little too much. Could either tone it down a little, use warmer colours so as not to contrast as much or maybe think about curtains or something.

Note: I do landscapes and would not even come close to this level of realism for an indoor scene. Looks great

Nice scene. I like the reflection of myself looking out.

      Cool plants. πŸ˜‰

      Thought you'd like them.

      http://solosplace.com/3Dgarden.aspx for anyone wondering

I like the refelction one too. Sometimes the ones with no commercial use like that one turn out best...

    • RE: To render or to work Native with Photoshop?

Pretty much what they said ^^^^^ - it depends where the money is coming from and how guaranteed it is. Marketing that will bring in $$$ over a long period is worth all the time you can spend. If the client is sold on you but not sure on design then a bit less because you will probably have to change something, and less time again if they are not sold on you. Sorry if I just repeated other peoples words. But... If you are anything like me and have several things happening at once and almost no spare time ever, I think dumming (sp?) down the model a little - test render areas of the scene to make sure they are right re: textures etc and then running your render while you work on something else is not a bad thing.

All that said - your models look great and I use unrendered stuff quite often when it needs to be quick and particularly when it is a residential client as they tend to be blown away by any 3d at all πŸ˜„

$700??? wow that's nearly as much as my computer. Formfonts - Is it worth it? For me, I don't use 2d stuff at all because I do walkthrough/flythrough things for everything I do and they look weird for that so high quality 3d plants are kind of neccesary.

    • RE: SUMMER GARDEN

I like this one. Looks great. One thing though, I am having difficulty judging the scale of the retaining wall - at first glance I guess about 600mm on the courtyard face and half that rising above the turf but then the furniture looks a bit out of scale for that. I don't think this is a modeling issue at all, i think it is the angle of the shot mixed with my addled brain that makes it happen. Its great though. More garden images!

    • RE: Roof Garden

the plants are from a bunch of different places. The plumerias (yep they are)are from Formfonts http://formfonts.com/which is not free but is amazing as are most of the other trees. THe other stuff comes from all over the place a couple from here probably http://solosplace.com/3Dgarden.aspx from 3d warehouse and of course some I have made myself

    • Office Courtyard

Have been working on this this week - it is a landscape layout for the courtyard/lunch area for an office building. I think this is finished now. I am running renders from different angles and each render takes a looooong time with all the galss and metal but would still appreciate any thoughts people might have.

Have reduced the size somewhat as the original image is larger than what should be uploaded here.Courtyard 1.jpg

    • RE: LIBRARY RENDER. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK

That looks really good. The sharpness point is well made. The chairs look a bit too intense in the foreground - too shiny for an indoor shot. The plants look a little bit too much the same. I really like the windows and relationship with outside. It reminds me of the little library I used to hang out in on cold days when I was living in Berlin. There are a couple of textures that are tiling a bit but then again carpet really does that, as does the wood vaneer used for most shelving so I don't know.

Anyway, that's my opinion - great stuff. πŸ‘

    • Office courtyard area WIP

This was designed for the courtyard/lunch/entertaining area for a large office building. The light levels are kind of low and interesting to deal with and modelling it has been a a bit of a learning experience because I don't usually do buildings like this. There is still some more to do but I feel I am heading in the right direction. Lighting it for evening shots is going to be hard but I will deal with that when all the modeling is done. The glass at the end didn't reflect as much as I thought under that much light so I might have to build some interiorsGetting there...

    • RE: Forklift

This is really cool. I spent years as a forklift driver - due to an administrative error my marriage certificate actually says I am a forklift. This looks good - just need a bit of damage to the pallets, a few dents in the pallet rack and a filthy polished concrete floor and you have several of my former work places... and possibly an inappropriate sticker somewhere on the forklift πŸ˜„
