I disabled all of the extensions except Utilities Tools and it still "splats".

Thanks, Dave and Rich, for your help.
"That's contradictory. Either you have the pro version or the free version. It can't be both at the same time. Rich wasn't asking you which version of SketchUp you have. (Although you ought to complete your profile to include it and your OS since it is likely to come up again) He was asking if you have a program for rendering installed.
See attached. I've installed Thea, Twilight, Maxwell, and Podium, but it crashes before rendering.
"I'm not sure what article you are referring to." http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/811-setting-security-permissions-in-sketchup
Perhaps you need to find someone knowledgeable about computers to help you with this."

You should check the permissions and set them to full for your log in. Then try extracting the contents of the ZIP file to the Materials folder again.
I'm sorry, Dave R, but I read your article on "permissions" and I still don't know where to start.

What render app u using?
I'm not rendering it at all. It crashes before the material appears on the geometry.
Downloaded zip file and extracted to C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials\Wood.
"Are there sufficient permissions set for the folder you installed them in?" I am not sure.
Sketch Up crashes every time I use a new material (*.skm) that I just downloaded and added to C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials\Wood. Perhaps these new materials are not compatible with Sketch Up 8?
Dave R,
Thank you very much. I'm getting the hang of it. Each scene, using the same perspective, has different layers that one hides or unhides its geometry.
Scene 3
: The door open. Using the same camera, perceptive, shadows, etc.
Dave R,
Thank you for your speedy reply.
For example:
Scene 1: House
Scene 2: The roof is flies up a few feet from the house. Using the same camera, perceptive, shadows, etc.
Scene 1: The door open. Using the same camera, perceptive, shadows, etc.
How does one make scenes...with a different geometry in each scene? Is this really called "an animation"?
It still crashes and I get a message "insufficient OpenGL functionality" (see attached).
Can you recommend a different program?
Pilou,
I realized that the easiest thing to do is alter the Shadow Settings/Light and/or Dark. I don't really need the fancy rendering, just to be able to see inside of the boxes.
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for replying.
I tried Twilight, Maxwell, Lightup, Podium, and Thea. The rendering seems to take a long time and my computer crashes.
Windows XP 32-bit
CPU: E2200 @ 2,20GHz
RAM: 2GB
Should I just settle for the default sunlight?
Is there an easy way to shine light, for example, into an open box? So the colors inside the box don't change from the shadow. I've tried TheaRender, LightUp, etc. They seem very very complicated.
