    • RE: Materials Picker tool on the Sketchup toolbar?

Thanks Dave, that would be possible.

Only thing is, I use 3 monitors and usually have all applications full screen on (exactly) one of the monitors (because I move applications between the monitors all the time).

Anyway, I guess I'll have to live with that Materials window then.

      Thank you,
      Regards David.P

    • RE: Materials Picker tool on the Sketchup toolbar?

      Thank you Dave!

I wasn't aware of the ALT key for converting the bucket to the picker, neither of the B key for bringing up the bucket, which is great.

Unfortunately, the bucket tool insists in bringing up that Materials window every time I want to use the bucket only ๐Ÿ˜•

So it seems there is no way for using bucket and/or picker without the annyoing Materials window...?

    • Materials Picker tool on the Sketchup toolbar?

      Hi forum,

I was wondering if there is a way to have the Materials Picker tool on one of the Sketchup toolbars, in order not having to open the Materials window first all the time when only a fill is to be transferred?

      Thanks already for any hints

    • RE: Follow Me Tool leaves a hole inside a bend

Great -- that did it. Scaling resolved the problem completely (the final diameter of the rod is only 5mm).

      Thanks!

    • Follow Me Tool leaves a hole inside a bend

      Hi forum,

I want to make a bent rod. For this, I drew some intersecting lines, replaced the intersections by tangent arcs, and then used the Follow Me Tool to extrude a circle along the centerline of the rod.

All worked well except that at SOME of the bends of the rod, the Follow Me Tool always leaves a rectangular hole in the rod surface?

I have no idea what causes this.

Thanks for any help how to make the rod without holes,

      Cheers David.P

Thanks Rocky & Gaieus, amazing -- this of course did the trick even better.

    • RE: How to exactly scale a component to an absolute size?

      Thanks lots guys.

Basically, xrok's advice was the way to go for me.

(As already pointed out above, typing the car's length into the VCB doesn't work in this case since you can't restrain the proportions by holding shift AND type in a number at the same time.)

Anyway, the 'snap to a guide line' did it.

      Thanks again,

    • How to exactly scale a component to an absolute size?

      Hi forum,

I've downloaded a car model from the warehouse. So far, everything is fine.

However, the car is not to scale. Therefore, I'd like to simply enter the correct length of the car while scaling it, in order to bring the car to scale.

This however doesn't work because when scaling the car by it's length (pressing shift to constrain the car's proportions) it is not possible to enter the car's length into the Measurements box in the status bar -- because the Measurements box wouldn't accept any numbers when pressing shift at the same time.

Also, it is not possible to attach a Dimension (from Tools -> Dimensions) to the bounding box of the car (as a component), in order to scale the car this way.

Thus, I can see no single way to properly and exactly bring a component (here, the car) to an exact length.

      Thanks heaps already for help,

      Cheers David.P
