    • RE: [Plugin] Layers Panel 1.2.1

      Jiminy,

Have a small problem with your amazing Layers Panel plug-in.

Whenever I use the Grab Location feature of SU to Geo-locate my model, the Google Earth Terrain and Snapshot layers come into the model, BUT Layers Panel assigns BOTH layers the same name..."Google Earth Snapshot", and the functionality of Layers Panel is broken.

If I open the standard SU Layers, both the "Google Earth Terrain" and "Google Earth Snapshot" layers are there, and work as expected.

Only when I close your Layers Panel, and re-start it via the Icon does it fix the layer names and functionality.

Don't know if others are experiencing this, but it happens with existing models, and if I start a brand new, empty model.

Hope you can take a look and address this.
      Thanks.
      Dave.

This is a fantastic plugin! Thanks for all the hard work.

Any chance you could make it so that when I use the Hide Dialogs function in SketchUp, your Layers Panel is included in the Dialog Boxes that hide/unhide??

That would be super-handy. Especially since I have Hide Dialogs assigned to a Shortcut Key and, right now, they all hide except for your Layers Panel.

      Just a suggestion.

Nevermind...I just answered my own question via trial and error.

I discovered the Window > Hide Dialogs in the pull-down menus!

Unfortunately, SketchUp won't let you assign the TAB key using Shortcuts. But I assigned Hide Dialogs to the Tilde (`) key, next to the "1", and voila!

      Very nice.

    • [REQ] Tab Key to Hide/Unhide Tool Palettes

Does anyone have a plug-in that let's you use the TAB key to Hide/Unhide your Open Tool Dialogue Boxes/Palettes?

The Adobe Suite let's you do this, and it's REALLY handy when working on a file, to allow you to instantly hide all of your open dialogue boxes, do something on a full-screen image, and then instantly put back all of your open dialogue boxes.

Is this even possibly as a Ruby Plug-in for SketchUp?

      Just throwing it out there...

Good news, Fredo! I upgraded to your latest version (with Altitude Editor), and all seems to be fixed. I do not have the Cleansing bug when I start the script.

The Altitude Editor is a BRILLIANT edition.

Thanks for all the amazing work!

Follow up to my above Post.

      This happens on ANY model.

I opened the Ruby Console, and ran it again. The Ruby Console kind of went nuts, and just started scrolling the following over and over, until I Right-Clicked and choose "Go to the Calculation and Preview of the Terrain". Then it stopped scrolling, and the script functioned normally.

    • RE: [Plugin][$] TopoShaper - v2.7a - 01 Apr 24

Is anyone else having the following problem with TopoShaper?...

When I click on my contour group, it goes into Cleansing mode, but the Cleansing dialogue box (across the top) is missing. It's just not there.

If I then Right-Click on the contours, and choose "Go to the Calculation and Preview of the Terrain", it runs the calculation and jumps into Preview mode, and the Preview dialogue box DOES show up.

Anyone know what's going on, or if there's a solution??

      Thanks.
      Dave.

    • RE: [REQ] Find X of One Point, Y of Another

      Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses, but neither of these are really what I'm looking for.

I understand how inferences work, and that's not really helpful for what I'm trying to accomplish.

The Point Tool ruby lets you put a construction point at a spot that you click, but it doesn't let you specify the X-coordinate of one point, and the Y-coordinate of another, and place a construction point at the result.

I realize I could construct or find the point using inferences, but that's an extra 3 or 4 (or more) clicks every time I want to locate a point.

What O-Snap filters in AutoCAD do is allow you to say 'find the X of THIS point, and the Y of THIS point' and start my line at the resulting location. With two clicks, you can start drawing at the resulting location.

Does that make any sense? Am I the only one who would find this useful?

    • [REQ] Find X of One Point, Y of Another

Question: Does anyone know of a script that will locate a Construction Point at the X-Coordinate of the first point clicked, and the Y-Coordinate of the second point clicked?

This question comes from someone who is used to using O-Snap Filters (.X, .Y, .XY, etc..) in AutoCAD. They are incredibly powerful, and it would be nice to have something similar in SketchUp.

I agree with you. This tool would benifit from an update. We use it EVERY day, to assemble and manage large models. It's really useful for that purpose.

Any updates you make, when you actually have time to make them, would be greatly appreciated.

    • RE: [Plugin] Loader for Rotated Rect, Circle and Box [6/14/12]

      Michael,

I suggest that you change the way that this loader installs your plugin. It's just not the standard way that ALL of the other .ZIP files install plugins.

You should create it so that it places the .rb files in the "Plugins" directory, and then your "3Pts_Tools" sub-folder in the "Plugins" directory.

Many users are not computer savvy enough to understand they need to unzip the .ZIP file, and then go in and move the files and sub-folder around. It's just a little bit confusing.

      Just a suggestion...
      Dave.

    • RE: [Plugin] Loader for Rotated Rect, Circle and Box [6/14/12]

There's a problem with your .ZIP file for this Plugin.

It puts the required .rb files and support files sub-folder in a parent "3Points_Tools" under the Plugins folder.

So the directory structure where the .rb files live looks like this:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\3Points_Tools

HOWEVER, the .rb files need to be in the root PLUGINS folder:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins

And THEN your "3Points_Tools" folder (with the support files) can be a sub-folder under the Plugins folder.

Right now, I had to copy the files and folders out of the "3Points_Tools" sub-folder, and place them in the Plugins folder, to get your script to work.

      Make sense?
      Dave.

Thanks for bringing back the regular toolbar!

However, the new version still has the same Unzipping problem. If you Unzip the files into the Plugins folder, it puts them in a "bst_zip052" sub-folder in the Plugins folder, and SketchUp cannot find the files. You need to create the .zip file so that they get Unzipped directly into the root Plugins folder, not a "bst_zip052" sub-folder.

      Thanks again!

      One other thing:
Is there any way to get the Toolbar back, WITHOUT using the Web Dialogue? I'd much rather have the toolbar up in my set of toolbars, than having to click to call up the web dialogue every time I want to use it. Just seems more cumbersome.

      Just a thought.

    • RE: [Plugin]T2H_BuildingStructureTools2.2.4 in20141207

      I think there's a problem with your "bst_zip051.zip" file.

When I Extract the .zip file in Windows into my Plugins folder for SketchUp, it places a "bst_zip" folder in the Plugins folder. The "building_structure_tool" folder and the"building_structure_tool.rb" needed to run the script are inside of the "bst_zip" folder...they need to sit directly in the Plugins folder to work.

You have one too many sub-folders in your .zip file. It just doesn't extract correctly.

    • RE: [Plugin] Xref Manager

      TIG,

Thanks for the info. We pretty much figured out the sub-xrefing system. It kind of stinks, because you are constantly checking to make sure the xrefs inside of xrefs are updated, but it does work.

Meanwhile, we can NOT wait until you have time to update the script! It sounds like you know exactly how to fix the dialog box, but just need time to do it. Hopefully you'll have time to get to it in the not-so-distant future.

Again, thanks for all the great work. We'll keep an eye out for an update to this amazing script.

    • RE: [Plugin] Xref Manager

      TIG,

This script is amazing. We're using it to model a huge site, with lots and lots of buildings, and it's working beautifully. The ability to know what has and has not been updated, and update the modified 'xrefs' is invaluable.

But, we've encountered one major 'design' flaw with the script. We have almost 30 xrefs loaded in the model, and the Xref Manager dialog box does NOT fit on the screen anymore, so there's no way to click the "OK" button. And there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the size or orientation of the dialog box!

Is there a way that the size of the dialog box can be flexible or adjustable or, at the very least, include a scroll bar! We really need to be able to see the entire list of xrefs, and scroll down to click the "OK" button.

      Hope you can help.
Thanks for all your hard scripting work!

    • RE: [Plugin] FollowMe and keep (v0.04 update 20090210)

Take a look at this model of a basic roller coaster track.

I drew three circles as the profile: one for the main beam, and two for the coaster rails.

Look at the top of the hill, how the rails cross paths and switch to the opposite sides of the main beam.

Is this expected behavior? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to keep this from happening?

      Hope someone can help.
      Thanks!
