Like Chris says (as he's just beaten me); when you are NOT in a group (i.e. in the "whole model"), the whole model will be scaled. If you only want to scale certain objects, group them first > edit > and scale it inside their editing context. It will only scale whatever is inside the group/component.

      Probably the best place to submit a request is the SU wishlist forum on here. Personally i think including the perimeter would make the entity info more crowded than it needs to be.

      all I can tell you is following: make a group with your walls, and edit your insulation outside the group. While your group won't change, you will be able to edit the thickness of your insulation material - I suggest you to use the joint pushpull ruby to save a lot of time.
