Sorry Tom - just another 'senior moment' - one amongst many. Will edit and then check out the link.

Maggy - of course you would, that's why you have yours and I have mine. 😉

You will have to wait for me to master gif animation to share the visual manifestation of the tick-tock I hear behind me. Content yourself with knowing that the pendulum is sometimes in that position when I forget to wind it.

As I said, this is a work in progress - among other things I have to model something I can plug the mantle radio into.

I'll get there - one day.

I'll hold you to that Bruce. Ceramic would be quite appropriate for the baked enamel colours with lots of nickle/chrome trim or what the restorer calls 'jewellery'. Though very bright and shiny when new, it dulls over time - unless you establish a monthly polishing regime. The top is black cast iron with a slight sheen.

There is a bit of a dilemma here in that I'm trying to avoid over restoration so that surfaces retain what I term 'the patina of time' and don't look as if they are brand new. It helps keep the cozy feeling you mentioned and a reassuring sense of times past.

      Thanks again for your help.

      Thanks Eric.

      Tom

I will but it will be a while, since the stove is being restored and then converted to gas ... and I'm not as slick as some on this board. 😉 I just keep plodding along . . . so don't hold your breath.

I've made up a tutorial about the process I went through creating the legs - after expert tutelage from the three wizards - yourself, Eric, and Bruce. I still don't really understand why it worked. My 3D concepts only go so far.

I've sent it to Coen who will slim it down and post it.

Just thought I'd post this render of my kitchen with the stove in place sporting its new legs - thanks to Eric, Bruce [modelhead] and Tom. Both the kitchen and stove are works in progress.

Gidon - Thank you very much. I've been looking for just such a bookshelf design for my own home - c 1890 - for some time. It fits with other cupboards I already have. Love the ladder and the little stool.

Where did the inspiration come from?

Those splayed legs on the second piece remind me of a stove I modelled recently.

      Thanks again.

Boo was suddenly seized by an agonizing stomach cramp, which became so intense he fell to the ground and began writhing on the ship’s deck in excruciating pain. He began foaming at the mouth, his plump form shivering and shaking so violently it became a mass of convulsing pink flesh.

Finally, this writhing mass began to relax and where there had once been the short, rounded form of Boofredlaaaaaaaaay, Gaiieus’s supposed arch nemesis [He was actually the devil, Lucifer in disguise – Why else would he eat our hero?] there, lay before us the clean-cut, honest, generous, and nearly as handsome as DASH RIPROCK - none other, than that miracle of nature, Kevin, Tea Boy Extraordinaire.

Emerging from the shadows, behind this recumbent form, there appeared the unmistakable shape of Kevin’s guardian angel, in the form of . . . . . . . .

Madame Martini continued “I am the Asian head of the worldwide organization, P.O.P.E.[Purify Our Polluted Environments] NOW. I am here to brief you on your quest to find the one true plant. A plant that will halt our planet’s downward slide into a future full of death, pestilence and destruction -

      Camellia sinensis var. magnificum.”

Kevin’s embarrassment intensified when he realized that the glamorous creature before him was none other than his Italian teacher from Gympie High, Ms Martina Martini whom he had secretly fantasized over, ever since he first clapped eyes on her, nearly two years ago.

He wondered whether or not she recognized him, dressed as he was in . . . . . . . .

. . . . . while Keven passed his time with a game of Solitaire, Kevin took a handkerchief from his pyjama pocket to mop his fevered brow. As he did so, a business card fell to the floor. Ms Martini surreptitiously gathered it up, feigning to adjust a buckle on her thigh-high, black leather boots.

She calmly noted the inscription as she slipped the card into the ample décolletage of her leather suit. It read:

“Don’t Martina me!” she snapped, as the sound of a helicopter faded into the blackened void above them.

“The name’s Madame Martini to you, Sonny. Pretty boys with pretentious names like yours, just make me puke” she hissed.

“Where’s Kevin, the Office Tea Boy (whatever that is) who, unknown to him, is on a mission to save the world from global warming by discovering a tea plant that absorbs thousands of times its own weight in greenhouse gases – and also has the most tender tealeaves known to man?” she added as an afterthought.

DASH RIPROCK, cowering from the humiliation of this tongue lashing, pointed feebly at Kevin who was overcome by Madame Martini’s uncanny resemblance to his ……

      Sawduster

It would be helpful if you could post an image of the leg so we can see how precise these curves need to be.

In doing what Eric suggests at the rear of the leg you will create two curved planes that join [intersect] on a line which can be smoothed using the eraser tool [while holding down the Ctrl key].

This can also be used on the front edge to smooth away the sharpness - but in both cases the resulting curves may not be what you are looking for since they look rather vague and unconvincing - unlike Mike's second solution which seems much more concrete.

I am still trying to figure out another solution for the rear of the leg - another version of Mike's solution might work using a circular path and the long elongated shape at the rear with the Follow-Me tool.

      Merci Didier

We were at cross purposes here Eric. I thought you meant the 'background colour' when you said 'back surface colour'. We were talking about the same thing - the back face colour.

I think it was another 'senior moment'.

There was I madly painting the background dark brown. [smilie with crossed eyes and a stupid smirk]

      Eric - It's called anal. 😉

. . . from another sufferer . . . I tried your suggestion about getting rid of the white bleeding through but it didn't work for me.

I get rid of this problem by painting the other side of the faces with a similar colour to the front face. It's easy if you position the model so that clipping occurs and you can see the internal faces and then 'ctrl + Paint'.
