Tell me where you're from, Paris, and I'll be glad to dig up some dirt on your cultural history.
I would be pleased to tell you where I am from, however, now that I know where you are coming from I would be concerned that you would burn a cross on my lawn or poison my dog. I think this subject has come to a conclusion for me and so I bid you all adieu.
Clever. Somehow, I think I'd need a ship or plane to get to your Euro trash flat. I wouldn't dream of poisoning your dog, but.....

I'll admit..I do hear allot of people go out of their way to mention his middle name..and usually they are in the midst of bashing him when they do it. There are just as many ignorant people that will think he is a Muslim extremist because of his name, that will also not vote for him ( or vote for him) just cause he's half African American.
Gaganraj, unfortunately based on recent events.... in allot of peoples minds Arab does equal bad. When I was watching the world trade center be attacked I wasn't thinking it was the Swedes that were flying the planes into the buildings. I'm not saying it's right or fair..but in allot of peoples minds that middle name of his is pretty hard to swallow.
I agree. Although I don't think he's a Muslim extremist, I do question his loyalties.
Why do you question his loyalties?
Daniel, sorry for the tardy response, I was in meetings all day.
I simply don't trust him to act in the country's best interest. His association with William Ayers and the Wrong Rev. Jeremiah Wright is indicative of his allegiances and beliefs and character. You don't hear too much about this anymore, do you? The faithful media will make sure this story stays below the surface.

Yes, I don't listen to most of the media in the US. Right wing fascists. I get my news from the BBC.
Here's a comment from across the pond, courtesy of BBC.
It's the bankers I feel sorry for, losing all that money. How humiliating it must be for them. My heart goes out, too, to the politicians who have been saddled with this crisis; George Bush, in particular, who's made so many personal sacrifices for the American people. If things get worse, he may be forced to sell one of his oil wells. And poor John McCain will probably have to sell one of his houses just to keep his head above water. It's not so bad for the poor: after all, they're used to it.
PJMolloy, Dublin
My Lord, no wonder you think the US media is right wing. If this type of story represents your news sources, EVERYTHING is to your right, even the left-wing media.

Talk about ouch...No, I really don't resent everyone who doesn't fit into the "American White" profile. I despise only those who wish to kill me; those who have already killed Americans. I don't know why this is such a difficult concept to understand. Well, maybe it is for the "enlightened" crowd.

RE: I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)
My WW2 Vet Father does not like the Japs, for example. And for good reason. My opinion of Islamists is also far from uninformed or uneducated. I think you're all wrapped in some sort of nuanced enlightened political correctness. It's OK to despise, really.

where did you develop these xenophobic and racist views? And if you think fundamentalists christians are not dangerous, think again. Bush is a fundamentalist christian, and at his hand he is murdering thousands in the middle east. How does that sit with Jesus?
Racist...I love this word. It has absolutely no meaning whatsoever anymore. It's thrown around by liberals in a failed attempt to impart guilt. Funny thing, it only works on other liberals. And so what if I don't like Islamists?
I guess my world view is more black and white.

You don't see any relevance to "Barak Hussein Obama" being a presidential candidate in these times?
But another angry and millitant white man that wants to rule by force and impose his beliefs on the world is exactly what we need?
These times call for composure, consideration, intellegence, and decisive actions, not knee jerk reactions, un-needed wars and a cold war mentality.
These times also call for experience, foresight and candor. I don't trust Obama. I don't he knows what the hell he's doing.

RE: McCain vs Obama 1st debate
Paris, tell us more about yourself. Your bio is a little light. I have to say I agree with much of what you said except that the US has had it's day. We are the "light on the hill". Our most prized export is freedom. People risk their lives to come here. We do more good than harm.
You don't see any relevance to "Barak Hussein Obama" being a presidential candidate in these times?

RE: I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)
Radical Islamists are more dangerous than fundamentalist Christians. The Christians will only knock on your door while the Islamists will chop off your damn head.

RE: I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)
Remus, a deeper look at the practice of taqiyya will reveal a more sinister objective, I think. One based on deception and lies. Nowhere in the Christian religion (or other major religions either, I bet) is there such a tenant. A Muslim is allowed to look you in the eye and smile while all the while despising and hating you in his heart.
-
RE: I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)
No, I have not spoken with any Muslims about this. I think many people are looking for a more public denunciation. And it has not happened. Ask your friends if they believe in taqiyya, the Muslim form of deception meant to conceal their true beliefs and feelings (among other things).

LOL. Thanks for the offer on the t-shirt. I'll pass, although I reserve the right to change my mind.

RE: I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)
For me, it started in 1979 with the Iran hostage crisis and then 9/11. I have not seen "moderate" Muslims condemn what happened and I don't think I ever will. I believe Islam aims for dominance.
Edit: They seem to be getting their way in Europe, don't you think?

Is their anything wrong with believing that someone of a particular religious bent is wrong?
Actually, I think I know what you mean. I have a problem with Islam, so I would have to answer your question with a "no".

RE: McCain vs Obama 1st debate
Ahhh, you see McCain make this an easy decision for me. He is not a real conservative and Bush turned out to be a big spender (and a major disappointment for me, acutally). So for me to vote for Bob Barr, the Libertarian, is an easy choice. If by doing so I help elect Obama, so be it. I think not voting your conscience is throwing your vote away.
Edit: Ross Perot's presence in the 1992 election is why Clinton got elected. Imagine how history would have change had Perot not been around!
