RE: Specs to run sketchup smoothly?
I tend to keep all the effects down while modelling.I switch them on,only when needed. Both the edges and faces exceeds the 1000000+.The annoying part is mostly the opening and closing part of large projects.Sometimes it just freezes and crashes.I doubt its the impact of the hard drive

Specs to run sketchup smoothly?
Hi,
I would like some help with you guys,May i know what specs should run sketchup smoothly? That is without much lags, and minimizing the huge time to save, open and close a sketchup file?I actually work with large masterplans and sometimes with large scale landscaping areas. The file range varies most of the time around 80 to a hundred MBs.I'm pretty amazed as i have a rather high spec workstation and the opening and closing time of the file just drives me crazy.I own a dell optiplex 990,with an i7 processor,8 GB RAM,and a 1GB Graphic card. Some landscape architects around here may know what i'm talking about.I understand that grouping and layering components will reduce the lag,i always work like this but still i get a hard time with huge files. Thanks guys.
