    • RE: Photomatch camera export to 3ds max not quite right

      Thanks for the replies.

I worked out what the issue was in the end. The camera was coming through in the right position and focal length. However, when I changed the size of the render window to match the photograph the focal length of the camera changed. So after fixing the size of the render I went back and changed the focal length back to the original value and it worked perfectly.

      Thanks again for your replies.

    • Photomatch camera export to 3ds max not quite right

      Hi all,

I've have an on going problem when exporting a photomatch scene into 3DS Max. I alway model in Sketchup and then make additions & render in max. However, the photomatch cameras always come through 'slightly' out. It's not a huge amount, but enough to make the model not line up with the photo accurately.

I remember reading on here to switch back to parallel projection and back to perspective then set up a new scene tab, but this doesn't seem to work. I've tried export the camera as a 3DS export, but the problem still exists.

Has anyone else experienced this or know of any ways to solve it? Is there a way of getting all the data about the camera from sketchup and setting a new one up in 3DS Max?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

      Cheers

    • Xyz coordinates

      Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone knew of a plugin that allows you move objects by typing in xyz coordinates. So say I had five objects at slightly different heights I could just type 0 in and they would all drop to the ground plane. I know there are ways of doing this manually, but it is quite a useful tool in other 3D programmes.

      Cheers

    • Materials on separate layers

      Hi everyone,

I have a large model with many different materials and I would like all objects of the same material to be on the same layer. I'm trying to find out if there is a script which will automatically create the layers and seperate the objects out without having to do it manually.

      Thanks in advance.

    • RE: Rotating texture starts to move

      Hi,

Unfortunately this happens on a standard face which is not part of a group or in a component.

In general I'm dealing with faces constructed with more than four sides. Thanks for the reply.

      Cheers

    • Rotating texture starts to move

      Hi,

I have an ongoing problem relating to rotating a texture. After applying a texture I move it so the edge snaps to the corner of the face, this works fine. I then rotate it so it runs parallel to the line. However, often when I've roatated it to the edge and I want it to snap to the line the material starts to move slowly, almost in a floating fashion. WhenI press enter the material isn't positioned as I would like it to be. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a fix? Is there a script which will automatically align a texture to an edge to avoid this issue?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Cheers

    • RE: Drape tool half works?!

Ok, thanks for your help. I guess the only way to solve this is to go around the edge and check if there is a gap?

    • RE: Drape tool half works?!

I can't see that there would be a gap as I have a flat version of the whole layout modelled directly above the terrain and all the surfaces have had materials added to them. It is this flat version of model I am trying to drape on to the terrain. If there was a gap it wouldn't have created the face for me to apply the material to.

    • Drape tool half works?!

      Hi

I have to model a new street layout onto a terrain model I've created from spot levels. However, when I use the drape tool to place the lines on the the terrain I'm coming across an issue. They get placed on to the terrain, but only some of them create isolated areas which I can paste a material too. When I click the others it simply selects the whole of the terrain. I've attached a jpg to try and explain what I'm on about! The area on the left can't be selected, yet the area on the left can.

Has anyone else come across this problem before? Does anyone know if this is an issue with the lines I'm using to drape, or a problem with the terrain model I've created?

      Cheers

    • Close Gaps Script

      Hi Everyone

Does anyone know if there is a ruby script available that joins two end points that are not touching to create a face?

Basically I have a large plan with hundreds of roads on it, however all along the roads there are gaps in the lines which need joining. This will be a very long task to do by hand so I wondered if there was a script that joins lines together? Not sure if I've explained myself very well there!

Any help would be really appreciated.

      Cheers
