Hello all,
I have been using SketchUp (Pro V8) now for about 4 years mainly in the design of a new house that I will start to build in a few days. My main model is of the house. The model is somewhat complex and has undergone a lot of revision. There are two things that bother me.
1
Sometimes when adding lines to existing geometry and on an existing face, a second face will be created on top of the first – sometimes more than one face exists in the same plane. (I do mean that this happens within a group and on a single layer.)
When attempting to give the face a texture or colour I have to delete one or more instances of the face before the texture or colour will be created.
As far as I can tell this problem has only started to occur as the model has become more complex and detailed. It is very frustrating and time consuming deleting faces all the time

In the process of editing it is unavoidable that a line will be crossed by other lines and so become divided into shorter lengths. Supposing now all of these lines are deleted and the first line is redrawn. Even without the intersecting lines the line remains divided so that it can’t be selected as a whole line using the select tool and a single click.
I have tried purging the drawing, but these annoying “features” continue to exist. What can I do to prevent this happening?
