It mightnot show up in the Plugins menu but somewhere else (I don't have it so don't know).

It's interesting though that it opens in Excel. Can you open it in Notepad? Do you see any strange in the text if you open it?

I have been able to copy and save it to Notepad and reconfigured it to open in Notepad
instead of Excel. The problem is that I cannot get it to go to SKP7
Plugins. It only opens in Notepad and is in it's proper script as is shown on the Ruby Library. It will not go into Plugins on SK7. Am I copying too much? Could someone please give me some pointers as to how to get this to run? It seems like a very useful Plugin. I am a quick learner. I just needs some pointers.

        Thanks, John

            John,

You say it won't go into Plugins. Do you mean you aren't seeing "Import Materials" in the Plugins menu in SketchUp? Or you can't save it as an rb file in the Plugins folder?

When I save it into SKP 7 Plugins it only saves it as a .txt file. Isn't it supposed to be an .rb file? It will not show up in the Plugins window if it is a .txt file. I can find it if I do a file search for it. If it is to be an .rb file or other file name, can someone show me how to do this. I have downloaded a few plugins and have this same problem. It is only with the plugins that need to be copied and saved of the text type. There are some plugins I have found that are already set up to save as an .rb file that have loaded correctly into tool, plugins, etc.

                Thanks, John

Have you tried renaming the TXT file in the Plugins folder with the file extension RB?

The problem is that it can only be saved as .txt file. I have tried and cannot change it to an .rb file. I copied this from the Ruby Library as instructed and pasted it in notepad. Then I clicked on file save as and saved to SKP 7 plugins. It is a text only file. It will only open in notepad as normal text the same way I originally pasted it. I know there is a way to make these plugins work. I just need the knowledge. Others don't seem to have any problem at all. I have a few others that are the same way. They show as text files. The only ones I have been able to activate are the ones I downloaded as .zip files. The person who put them on the Ruby Library already had them configured to be able to send to the tools or plugins area in SKP.

                    Thanks, John

What happens if go to the Plugins folder via Windows Explorer, right click on the name and choose Rename? Can you then change the extension from txt to rb?

Forget about opening it in NotePad or anything else for the moment.

Just wanted to say thank you to all who helped me on this one. I finally got it figured out. Notepad was not working properly. I downloaded notepad++ and now have full control over file naming.

                        Thanks Again, John
