Cutting a componet or group in half
-
I made this leg to support an island counter top that overhangs the rear of the cabinet, now I would like to "cut" it in half to use as a detail on the front corners of the cabinet. Thanks in advance.

Here is the leg cut in half(I believe this is what you asked for)

Ivica, thanks, appreciate it but can you post a small explanation so I know how its done

alpro,
Your name is more like the name of dog food than anyone else I know.
Position a rectangle (or any other plane surface bigger in extent than the table leg) so that it passes through the centerplane of the leg. Select the leg and the rectangle and right-click, then pick Intersect > Selected from the pop-up menu. Now delete everything except the half-leg with its new face transferred from the rectangle. If you want both halves, just copy the half you have and rotate it 180 degrees, or flip the copy (select, right-click > Flip along [axis color]).

Edit: Incidentally, if the leg is a component or group, you should explode it before cutting it in half. You can define the half leg as a new group or component when you're done.

YEs like Gully said but you can also turn on hidden lines, turn off perspective ,select top view and just delete half of your leg.
Btw I saw in your leg that some small faces was missing. So sometimes if you miss some faces and when you draw line and still they are not there(that happens because they are to small) just scale it by (example) 10 draw faces and then scale it again by 0,10 to get old dimensions. -
well done, gully. helpful intervention, as usual.

Hi folks.
If the leg is a component, there is no need to explode it and loose all prooperties like gluing plane, cutting holes, its name, etc.
Just go in Component Edit Mode and do the cutting and deleting inside the component. Exit the Edit Mode after all is done.
