    Hi all,
As I am experimenting one more time the slowiness of SU exploding, I still don't understand why and wonder why it is so slow.
One advantage is that, as while explode is running it's not possible to work any longer in SU, it gives me time to jump on the forum, trying to find a workaround.
Grouping all the lines, altimetric curves, was done almost instantly, sanbox it took 5 minutes and now that I want to explode my machine has been running for almost five hours and is still going..... 😞

      Still running!
Well, just discovered that I can go on playing with SketchUp if I go to the dark side of my machine, Windows under Parallels....ha!ha!

Man...5 hours, what are you exploding? that looks like a GE shot. Are you adding topo to GE, how is that done.

          Good morning Hank,
Woke up this morning and it was done! So I don't know how long it took exactly but it is more than twelves hours anyhow......
The model is 117923 edges, 80544 faces, 12,1 Mo from an import .dxf of altimetrics lines.
GE image painted on top (that's where the need to explode comes from). Now I'am going to "carve" the roads 😆 just for fun because it's already on the way, steepy isn't it?
          Have a nice day,
          Patrice

What is this, Patrice, whole Madagascar?!
Why could you not add the image while editing the group? Was exploding really needed?

              Hi Gaieus,

              Thanks for input.
As far as I know, and it's the way I have used up to now, when you create a terrain through the sandbox it comes out as a group and if you want to project an image you have to explode the group before.....is there an other way? If you are working inside an edited group you can't select the image to project, can you?

              Patrice

Sure you can. Maybe the easiest way would be to draw a huge rectangle (of the same size as the terrain from above) but inside the terrain group, project the image onto it (you can position/project everything easier onto a flat surface) then copy it with the eyedropper tool and apply it onto the terrain. No need to explode when you are editing it.
You can then delete the "sample" rectangle.

It's really good to have clever friends when you are a nut 😳
                  Had not thought of that....
                  Thanks for the tip Gaieus.
                  Have a good week,

That's why a forum is good. People can help out each other. I have learnt so much myself on these forums (and the really old one, too).
