I almost finished the proverbial doughnut tutorial by Blender Guru. He also runs poliigon for texture thats I used in SU for either Thea Render or D5 Render. Right now I mostly use it for importing models from Blenderkit which about $10/month into D5 Render. Some of them work and others don't. I imagine it's the same with Twinmotion. It's complicated. I also dabbled with Rhino which has a command entry window like Autocad. So far Blender is a sort of utility combining SU, D5 and Blender from time to time.

Is there a physical book for Blender? Something I can actually have on the desk and refer to, tried video's and pdf's and frankly they are not my cup of tea.

Sorry, I am talking about a book folk can recommend, I am loath to buy stuff blind.

I think printed manuals struggle to keep up with the pace of development of Blender. I had an in depth book a few years ago but now is almost redundant. Even video courses go out of date quickly. I find some of the video shorts a good way of learning in small chunks but it doesn't always fit in context. there are often several ways to do things, at the end of the day it's a matter of practice.. and time.

Ta, I'll have a good look. The basics will do tbh. The rest later.

The first thing you will need to know is when and how select Vertices, face and edge

I have to admit to being spoiled by the Extrusion tools plugin for a lot of my non architectural modeling which is not easily transferable to other software.
A royal pain in the throne.

The problem is a lack of flexibility to change. Not giving up.

Ta but, I do not do videos, not been able to get on with any of those I have tried so, I get books I can have next to me while I try to learn whatever it is I am trying to learn.

                          I know, inflexible.

Speaking of Blender videos or tutorials, Some of them talk a mile a minute.

I find that folk in video tutorials wave the cursor all over the screen while changing topic left and right, leaving me wondering what language they call home.
I do like my linear progression and a little rehearsal to stay on script.
                              Not seen it yert.

@Mike-Amos Mike, you’re not inflexible. We’re both from the generation that did all our learning from books. I have a hard time trying to learn from videos also. Although I have a number of books on learning Blender. I’m hesitant to recommend any by name as they’re for older versions of Blender. My top recommendation is make sure any books you might get are for the version of Blender you have installed.

@L-i-am Let’s just say I’ve stuck some toes in the Blender water. Sort of hit a mental wall with my modeling last year. Had to step away for a while. Trying to get back into the swing of things including diving back into Blender.

@L-i-am Not really sure what B4 is…. I’m using Blender 2.79 due to my ancient iMac.

I think he is talking about Blender 4 Artists which has a slightly different take on the interface, simplified basically.

Hey Tuna B4 is what all the cool kids call Bforartists😉 😉 😉 But anyway the thread has been of value to you as you now know something exists a little easier to learn than full blender. I think I will go with Bforartists 👍
