I have always just accepted the fact that Text does not import when I import an acad file (.dwg)
    into sketchup.

I never thought to ask you all if there is a way to get text to come along with the .dwg file .

    Is there?

Didn't TIG create an extension to import DXF text? Thought I read it here somewhere...

That's usually the 1st thing I filter out of a dwg before going into SU. Are you using them for a particular reason or just reference?

There's an extension of mine in the PluginStore which imports DXF text...
It's not entirely idiot-proof, but for most text it'll work, you mustn't change the text-dxf's origin compared to the main geometry's dxf/dwg import - otherwise things won't align...
          Read the usage notes...

            TIS FOR REFERENCE.
I can look at the cad file separately on one of my screens but I have always wished I could have the text right in the imported cad file on a separate layer so I can switch it off & on rather than turning my head...yeah, I know...lazy.

            Thanks TIG,
I figured you probably addressed this 100 or so years ago.
