There are several people here who might be able to help...
But to get a useful response I suggest you provide some more details about what's involved, timescale, etc, and then by PM the likely pay etc...Sometimes there's already something that does something like your wishes and could be readily converted - or conversely it's super-difficult !

Thank you for the reply, TIG.

I put together submittal drawings of cabinets for several companies. For some of these companies I provide a service that makes those cabinets ready for production (assembly drawings).

I'm looking for ways to be more efficient and this morning finally got my head wrapped around an idea for a plugin that would make things very efficient.

I typically work with 2 main SU files on every job:

          • Job Name Submittal.skp
          • Job Name Assembly.skp

Once my submittals have been approved and field dims have been implemented I copy and paste the cabinets from the submittal file to the assembly file (see attached images). I simply stack all the cabinets on top of each other because they have been tagged with their cabinet number already and in my layout template I just turn things off that I don't need. Bad at explaining it but it works out pretty well.

          BEST CASE SCENARIO:
My thought is (and this will be rough, I know) to use a plugin so I can select a cabinet in the submittal file and I'm prompted to enter it's cabinet number (Tag) and to be able to select a completely different SU file (assembly file) to move that cabinet to. I know this can be expounded upon and tightened up for sure. It would place the cabinet in the new SU file at (0,0,0).

OTHER SCENARIO IN CASE A PLUGIN CAN NOT ACCESS OTHER FILES (BECAUSE I'M A NEWBY AND DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS):
A plugin I can use once I've copied all the cabinets over to the Assembly file (and they are scattered about) that will apply a cabinet number and zero the cabinet out at (0,0,0).

I hope this is making some kind of sense. For anyone seriously interested, I would be willing to share my screen to explain in further detail.

Also, I've had an account with Sketchucation for some years now, but have never dug into using the forums like this. I noticed that I have not been authorized to use the PM system here and I'm not sure how to go about being authorized to do so.LOL.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well. I just wrote a novel and I'm not seeing it being posted. Makes me wonder if I did something wrong. πŸ˜†
