Currently the free web-based version does not support 'plugins/extensions'.
But there is still a 'Make' version of 2017 available for non-commercial use [might be you?]
That does allow most plugins/extensions to be install and run [obviously some newer ones will be adjusted for newer versions of SketchUp, but many earlier ones will still work OK.
For v2017 Make try: https://help.sketchup.com/en/downloading-older-versions -

I assume you mean v2017 'Make' - if it's a fresh install you'll get the full version working for a month, after that it reverts to make.
https://www.sketchup.com/sketchup/2017/en/sketchupmake-2017-2-2555-90782-en-x64-exe
What have you downloaded and installed [remember that you need to right-click installer's exe and 'run as administrator' - if it's already installed do a 'repair' when prompted...] ?
You will need to give some details to get it working... even when 'free'...All versions allow extensions to be installed and used...

Hi Tig
Yes Thanks i got the hang of it .. ithink...
i can istall the add ons through the archive function where i look at the info for the plugin then download it then istall it from sketchup
just having a problem with the "Fredo tools " it wont install although it tells me it has hmmmm.
no matter i can learn faster with this version as the youtube videos look the same interface as what i have with it...
so far i have had a lot of fun with it .. but soon i have to stop playing with it and get my plans and models up and running.
i am looking for an addon that helps me design framing for int walls and doors, stairs etc. then help me calculate the materiel ..
not only am i loving this app but i am really impressed with the support and help from people ..
great community ..
if i can find a use for this app after my project then i will invest in a paid version...
once again
Thank you

Some authors like Fredo & thomthom use supporting Lib files, which are available to download and install [LibFredo], then after SketchUp is restarted the tools should load and be available.
However, don't fall into the trap of thinking that every extension is listed under the Extensions menu...
Read up on each particular extension's usage - e.g. Fredo's Tools is accessed through the Tools menu list or its Toolbar entry...
Some other tools are also activated from the context-menu... read up on each one...
