Hello all,
For designs that I do work for my firm, DeGraw & DeHaan Architects, I figured I'll make posts with my real name instead of my archviz freelance name "Criterion Architecture." So here is one project that I worked on the past couple of days that was rushed out for the planning board. Criticism is welcome

Nicely done, Steve. As far as criticism goes, I will have to have a long hard look but as it is I think it's great.

Hi Steven, that is an interesting look, it looks kind of Photoshopped but the raw sketchup says it is not. Looks like a montage of styles but it works
The perspective looks a bit "weired" somehow, not a bad thing perhaps but I cant put my finger on it. Not saying that is a bad thing maybe it is meant to hold the veiwere attension, it did mine

Thank you guys. Liam, I agree something is a little off and I wasn't too sure what it was either. I wonder if its just because of the inaccurate projection mapping of google street maps for the neighboring homes on the left and right. Maybe theres a plugin to accomplish that better. Also, my Enscape settings is set to 2-point perspective and it might be forcing the perspective too harshly by skewing the proportions.

Thanks! I just modeled the homes by eye and then decided to add projection map last minute. Probably not a good idea on my part haha. By photomatch I'm guessing you're referring to the plugin?

No the photomatch or rather "MatchPhoto" is a native SketchUp way to import images (Import as "New Matched Photo") and set up scale model to match the photograph's view and perspective. The image can also be projected onto the model. For that matter, it works well for regular photographs, but the perspective in a Google street view may not work well.

Here's the new design iteration! Decided to change the light composition to the render and I think it made a huge difference. Also used a tree to hide the imperfection of the projection mapping of the contextual house.

As I have said before nice work. I am curious where did you source the trees and you created the grass in sketchup, how?

Thanks Liam, the trees and grass both come from Enscape. Anything named grass in the sketchup material will generate grass and the trees come from their Asset Library, which is similar to Lumion.
