'un' divide a line
-
Hi
If I have a line and divide it so I can work on part of it. Is there a quick way to make it a single line again after the divide?
If I draw back over it with the line tool the segments still remain so I end up deleting it all then adding it back in - maybe there is a quicker way
thank you

If it's a straight edge you can draw an edge perpendicular to the joint then delete it and it will become one again, or you can move the vertex to the end, or use a weld plugin.
If it's a curve then you need to weld it. -
brilliant - the perpendicular option is great - never knew it existed - thank you very much

there's also an old plugin called "repair broken Lines" that I think is in the ext warehouse or somewhere out there. I've been using it for years.

There is also a Weld plugin.

Yes indeed there are several weld extensions, Tig Weld, Weld, Curvizard just to name 3, but it's worth noting that using the edge erase method you also change from 2 segments to 1, whereas weld will still be 2 segments. Handy quite often.

To reunite a number of segments that could form a single edge there is Fredo Tools "Remove Lonely Vertices" - i.e. in a selection of edges any unused/unnecessary vertex is merged back into a single edge.

Thank you for the replies. I am in an environment where it is not possible to use extensions so all of the solutions have to be vanilla.
thank you again

Tell Sonder to loosen up a little...
Just kidding, he's a real stand-up guy.
