Note that Curviloft keeps the state of the latest parameters used, even across Sketchup sessions. In practice, this is more flexible than to use default parameters.

And, for softening edges of the generated surfaces, unfortunately, there is NO way via the Sketchup API to specify the smoothing angle (unlike what you can do in the Sketchup GUI).

I wish it would retain settings as you describe. But it always reverts back to 'smooth junction by a single cubic bezier curve' every time I activate the tool within the same session. Could outdated script be the issue? see attached pdf.

          Definitely.
I even wonder how your old versions still work.

For the future, you'll better keep my plugin up to date, even if you run an old version of Sketchup.

The preservation of Curviloft parameters was introduced earlier this year.

OK.....I updated my Fredo files. However, I am still unable to preserve the parameter 'junction by orthogonal elliptical curves' as a user-defined default. I am not really seeing anything in the parameters dialogue box that would be applicable. See attached images.

You have to go to the Default Parameters dialog box of Curviloft
menu is: Tools > Fredo6 Collection > Curviloft > Default Parameters.

Monsieur Fredo (or anyone)- how best to extrude the attached tapered volute?

Curviloft does not like that the two circle are coplanar.
I don't have time to investigate and troubleshoot at the moment.
So I suggest you look at Spirix, which is specialized in creating spiraling shapes.

That's OK. I will just continue doing it in 4 pieces, then 'welding' them together.

From what i can see, there is no such thing as default parameters for Fredo6:Bezier Spline - correct?

NO, but it should keep the parameters to their last value when you exit BezierSpline.
