For some time, the following happens:
After opening a file in SketchUp Make 2017, all materials are automatically renamed.
All materials will be renamed and numbered from the immediate opening of the model from "mat000" to "mat ..".
I can not find the cause: a thoughtless presetting; a plugin that operates secretly ???
Unfortunately I only realized after a long time of acceptance that I could have done an undo after the start.
Approximately 400 materials are now stereotypically numbered - painting by numbers ..
Any help or information is very welcome.

It sounds like a loading plugin messing you up.

Try opening an empty model and then using the SketchUcation Toolset's Plugin Manager to disable say 50% of your Plugins.
Then restart SketchUp - so those plugins don't load - and see if it still messes with material names this time.
If not you know that the culprit is in the disabled set, otherwise it's in the currently loading set, so disable half of those etc and retest...

You could try and sidestep some testing by making a list of possible candidates...
e.g. a renderer like Vray can cause flakiness...
Obviously a simple plugin that has nothing to do with materials is unlikely to be the culprit...

Thanks for your help! This method may take a while.
I was able to use the model backups to find out when the problem occurred and what plugins I had installed or updated during that time.
There is no relation to it.
The conversion of the material names takes place directly during the program start.
Which plugins are already active in the launch of Sketchup?
Have only now (unfortunately too late) found that I can undo this action after starting the program ...

All plugins 'load' as SketchUp starts.
If they are written as extensions they might not actually do much if they are disabled.

However some tools use 'observers' attached to various contexts - including Materials...
If these are flaky it might cause issues...
Disabling plugins 'by halves' is relatively quick, and could reveal the culprit.

You can speed the process further by concentrating on complex plugins which might affect materials etc, there are many plugins that never go near material settings - so you can ignore those - at least initially...

So, do you have a renderer like Vray loading ?
That might mess with material names unexpectedly ??

After disabling the problem was solved.
              Thanks again!
