SUp to Cinema 4D?
-
Can I convert a SUp file so it can be viewed and measured by somwone using Cinema 4D?
-
If 4D has measuring tools then yes.
Export to OBJ and make sure model units and Swap Axis is checked.
-
Right on Rich I'll give it a try!
-
Say Rich, should I select any of the model units like ' or cm? This is going to someone over in the UK if that matters.
-
OBJ by default uses its own units. Setting the export to match the model units in SketchUp means the app importing can apply the correct scale.
So if you model in CM then exports in CM.
I'm more interested to know if Cinema 4D dimensions meshes. There's a paid plugin...

...so it suggests that Cinema 4D doesn't dimension as standard.

So check out what Gus did https://www.shijima.co.uk/ scroll down a bit to my moon gate pics then under is a model he built and rendered from the file I sent him! Look at the texture on the round moon gate faces, how it follows the curve around
-
That's a beautiful render video and a great model, beautiful design. You can apply texture to orient like that in SketchUp. With Fredo's Thrupaint and other ways. First find a circular board!
Long grain wood material from Sketchucation!

Hey Rich, Gus is totally stoked with the new measuring tool he has Thanks for suggesting that!
