SU LO 2018. Transfer toolbars?
-
I have created tool bars for LO 2015, 2016, 2017. (See pic.) However I could find no import/export to transfer the toolbars to the new version. LO tech support suggested copying some user created system files but that did not work. The final response was that it could be be done currently, but maybe later. Any word on this?

I don't know of any system to automate this.
However using the sketchUcation toolbar and EW internal link should get you off to a good start with loading plugins / extensions.
I generally keep screen grabs of the dashoards (SketchUp / Layout) so I can easily recreate them.

There is no system to transfer toolbars from an older version to a newer one. There never has been in any version of SketchUp. My process for updating to a new SketchUp version or setting it up on a new computer is to first install fresh copies of extensions (don't copy from an older installation unless you want to chase potential load errors) and then set up toolbars. I make a screen shot of the previous version showing all the toolbars I use. Then I import that image as an image into the new version of SU so I have a read reference right in front of me. I create my customized toolbars and place all the ones I want. This whole process also gives me a good chance to do some housekeeping and get rid of extensions I don't use. No point in keeping them and waiting for them to load if they aren't going to be doing anything anyway.

There may be hope if I understand what the new json files are.....Per SU 2018 release notes:
SKETCHUP:
Preferences Location
The majority of preferences are now stored in two json files. There are still some OS controlled preferences that remain in the registry (Win) or plist (Mac). The json files are saved in the following locations:On Win:
PrivatePreferences.json is saved to C:\Users\AppData\Local\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\SketchUp SharedPreferences.json is saved to C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\SketchUpOn Mac:
Both PrivatePreferences.json and SharedPreferences.json are saved to /Users//Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2018/SketchUpLAYOUT:
Preferences
Your existing user preferences will now migrate when upgrading.I have no idea if toolbar configuration would be considered a “preference”........but i do hope it is.
