Reduce the size of this model

I'm struggling with this metal lattice.. it's 4.4 mb and i want to make it the the lightest possible. It's part of a proyect i'm working on and using this with the rest of the model is just hard, annoying and making it larger. Can someone tell me what can i do or what i'm doing wrong. Thanks!

Use a texture. Easier manage.

But if you really want to model it, use components. Depending on the end / edge conditions, you may only need 2 or 3 base components; one for the middle (with common edges hidden) one for each end (with common edge hidden).
Arrange these into a blade, make the blade a component as well, copy the amount of increments required.
