      hi

Im in the process of trying to learn vray for sketchup (I'm just using the trial version whilst i figure out if it can do all i need it to do)

Most guides and tutorials online are for version 2 so I am trying to match things up to version 3 which is easier said then done as version 3 at least looks totally different (for example there is no longer an options editor but now an asset editor which doesn't look like it's entirely the same thing)

Is it just me or does vray 2 for sketchup potentially have more features than vary 3?

I ask as I am trying to save my render with a background image as a tiff/png but I am getting a transparent background in the save file. The solution seems to be to turn the alpha channel off (which should also solve my problem of a white outline around my model render) but I can find instructions of how to do this in vray 2 via the 'VFB channel tab' but that doesn't seem to exist in the same way. Where am I going wrong?

(i read that openexr may be a better save format for vray renders but I'm getting the same transparent background with that format save as well)

      Thank you all in advance

        Hello,

Had the same issue as yourself. In the Asset mananger uncheck the environment tab.

I use a vray dome light for the environment, check hidden on the dome light and uncheck affect alpha. Then save as a PNG file for transparent background.

        Thanks

It's a completely rebuilt plugin. There are very few similarities from 2 to 3. I'm not sure if this is the best way to learn. Any reason for not just using 2 for now to learn and then upgrade to 3 when you are comfortable with the features.
