My how time changes things
-
Here's an old model I made 7 years ago. It's actually my very first complex model. I was so proud of it. I knew after this model that I was going to make progress in 3D at last.
Thank you SketchUp. And SketchUcation.
3 pics. First is raw SketchUp from the original model.
2nd is my first render maybe 2-3 years after?
Last is the update as of today and yes, it still needs work, but I'm pleased with my progress so far.Except for one backplane image (the colored foliage), the entire model is 3D objects. This includes the people. Those are from the 3D Warehouse as is everything else except for the building.

Very cool, Bryan. Nice progression. I look forward to seeing your next render in a few years.
Best,
_KN
p.s. I noticed the trees have grown over the years.

that's great!

Yes, the last one is great, more polished. It's one of those things that creeps up on you and looking back at old jobs makes you realise how far you've come.

Ken, thanks. Hopefully I'll be better than this sooner than that. Ha! Yeah the trees. Would you believe those are what I wanted in the first place but couldn't find back then? That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Rich, thanks. I've felt lucky finding SketchUcation and it's always been a real help.
Nickchun, thanks. Yeah no substitute for practice, but dang I wish I had half the natural ability some people seem to have when they first start out. But then again, 3D modeling isn't all that easy to begin with.

An update.

Bryan this is really looking good.

Thanks Dave.
Although I think I should have stayed with the green roof.

Looking good Bryan each one gets better.
