Skatter v1 is finally here!
Skatter is a powerfull scattering extension for SketchUp.
Render hundreds of thousands of objects without overloading SketchUp. Scatter them parametrically or paint them by hand, while keeping control over collisions, camera clipping, rotation, scale, translation, randomness and density based on altitude, slope, falloffs and more.Learn all about it : http://getskatter.com

As a typical Sketchup user that always wants more and more stuff, how about this:
If you have ever used Ivy maker: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=36882
and do very large areas it cripples Sketchup and it is kinda limited these days with tools available in other softwares, so how about adding an IVY maker to your awesome Skatter, one where we can add randomness and multiple types of leaves, create vines, etc. Working with the Skatter system and render engines we will be able to create huge vines and vast scenes.
Just an idea.

It would actually be way easier to improve the existing Ivy plugin.
It can easily take advantage of the framework that we've put in place for Skatter, to have its own "Render only" feature (for the leaves at least). All we need is permission from its creator to modify it, or have him do it directly.
If you can convince him, I'll be happy to help. -
I sent him a PM, hope he agrees, we all win.

Just an other idea: 3D tree maker ... http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=52540%26amp;hilit=tree+maker

Skatter looks really interesting! One question, where do Skatter users get all the vegetation and especially trees that they use in the example pictures?
I am just wondering if I still need to spend 3-4 times Skatter price to have decent and comprehensive set of vegetation and trees.

You can find plenty of objects on the 3D Warehouse. But it is indeed hard to find free or cheap quality content.
Take a look at the SketchUcation store, there's some really good stuff there for very little price (or even free if you're a Premium member)We're working with big content providers to bring their libraries into the Sketchup world.
