Sketchup 16 and Flattery V1.0.2
-
I cannot get Flattery V1.0.2 to install properly in Sketchup 16, win 7, 32 bit. At best, I get a blank Flattery tool bar, at worst, I get nothing. Flattery does not show up when you right click left side tool bar.
The instillation in Sketchup 15 went flawlessly.
Thanks, queBall

Have you used the version from the PluginStore (updated by TIG)? It should work...

That one works for me and it's actually very good. If you try flattening faces that are already flattened it will crash though.
I use it to UV unwrap.

http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=FlatteryYes, just tried it. Negative response, got nothing. No mention of Flattery tool bar, could not tell I did anything. It was a clean Sketchup 16 installl, just removed the Flattery folder and flattery.rb from the Tools folder. Loaded the Flatery folder and flattery.rb from http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Flattery. Nada, zip!
Thanks,
Billy

Loaded the Flatery folder and flattery.rb
The download is a rbz-file and should be installed in the preferences (or with the plugin store extension). After this it's not in the list of extensions in the preferences?

I've tested it in 2016-64 without a problem...

Sorry to take so long to reply. Not sure what or where you mean by "should be installed in the preferences". I looked over the Sketchup 16 and found "Extension Warehouse" under "windows" in the main window menu. Clicked on it, extension warehouse opened, chose browse warehouse, searched for Flattery and clicked install!
Message - The chosen extension is not compatable with this verson of Sketchup!
I loaded Sketchup 15 and Flattery and finished my project. However, I would like to use the latest version. Any ideas now?
Thanks, Billy

This message don't mean that it can't work with 2016, have you tried it?

To step back a little...
You download some RBZ.
You use SketchUp's Preferences > Extensions > Install Extension... button it will install.
IF it is not compatible SketchUp [NOT Trimble/EW] will tell you that !
Chances are it'll work OK...
Trimble has been somewhat disingenuous in their reporting of extensions/plugins compatibility with v2016.
Particularly those which are not hosted on their EW !!
In fact virtually all of those that were working in v2015 will still work in v2016.
However, since v2016 introduced its 'Extension Loading Policy' [for a not yet well explained/justified reason, I might add]... then any 'unsigned' RBZ you install will only work without question in v2016's 'Unrestricted' policy [this can be (re)set in Preferences - but it's already the initial default] - the mid-level 'Approve' will ask you to agree to its loading, whilst in its highest level it will just not load. So, any Extension/Plugin that worked in v2015 can be installed and used in v2016. unless you ill-advisedly adjust its 'Extension Loading Policy'.
There are many preexisting Extensions/Plugins out in the world that were obviously "unsigned" when v2016 was launched a few weeks ago..
It can be a complex process for authors to get their code updated for full compatibility with v2016... and then submit it to Trimble to get it signed.
So, thus far, many Extensions/Plugins are still unsigned, but are currently still compatible with v2016 - provided you don't mess around with its Preferences > Extension Loading Policy !IMHO: Trimble have seriously underestimated the effort involved by authors in regularizing their Extensions/Plugins for FULL v2016 compatibility - many of these are 'free', and so there is no 'benefit' to an author to update them while they still work in the current SketchUp - but if Trimble tweak future SketchUp versions to specifically exclude unsigned RBZ installation, then that will in all likelihood mean the demise of those particular 'unsigned' tools !

It's an "IF".
BUT, it begs the question, why have 'they' done this AT ALL ?
It wasn't asked for, as far as I know, by any users OR authors...
I suggest you ask pertinent questions in the appropriate quarters/forums...
I have so far escaped becoming a "persona non grata" - but only barely...
But I'm none the wiser...[Homeland Security]

Bingo! Works fine! Thanks so much to you and Tig for addressing this problem. Looking forward to long usage of this.
Thanks Again, Billy

The bean counters at Trimble are prob preparing the ground to generate income somehow from plugins.
