Two things I'd like to see developed next.
-
Sketchup is kinda limping along better than I expected it would 5 or so years ago when i was on the verge of giving it up. Artisan, vertex tools, Thea4SU etc have kept it in the game.
Now I am asking for additional capabilities to further enhance this wonderfully easy to use software.
Animation, sure there are a couple of plugins that are free and one that is commercial, but they are either lacking or no longer supported. I really would like to see a good keyframe animation software that is robust and rich in features, I expect it to be a commercial plugin and will be the first in line to buy it as I really need this capability urgently.
Secondly I want a better way of mapping materials, a while ago there was a UV plugin being developed but that seemed to have disappeared, This is the only reason i use Blender and hate it, we deserve mapping tools.

Stay tuned on the animation. I think there is a tool coming that you will like.

materials and mapping control...and some way of sidestepping the Apple materials browser (I want to see the NAME of a material instantly whether on screen or in a list).

I'm quite interested in better animation too! That was the lacking feature in SU that initially sent me to Blender (Though I've learned to love Blender, especially with vray 3 ). Can't wait to see what's around the corner

+1 on the UV mapping & editing tool.
Thanks to many plugins you can easily create all kind of different and complex shapes.
Material assignment and editing is still lacking the same easy workflow. Even though there are several UV plugins, I really would like to see, and would pay for, an easy to use and full featured UV mapping/editing tool like Marginal started here http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=57270 -

Looks like 2016 will be an awesome year thanks to plugin authors, both my wishes are in the process of being granted.

Yes, these both look exciting. I just have two comments:
- I wish my skills were good enough to really take advantage of them when they become available
- To some degree, not all, it is a little bit of a shame that all of this stuff has to take place by plugin authors rather than Trimble making the product stronger by adding some of this stuff as part of the base product. Then again, I guess the good news on this front is that they have included an engine that is flexible enough to allow others to provide these enhancements. Building them as part of the base product would probably on raise the price.

More Layout features or bigger icons?
Definetelly more Layout tools and a revamp on Layout's UI and dwg export.
Apart from the fact that Sketchup Make can't be used commercially, pro users are paying for Layout after all, not sketchup.
Actually, the way I see it, I paying for Thea and Layout and using a free software called Sketchup...

So, what else would you expect to get with the next updates? More Layout features or bigger icons?
And the price has already been raised significantly since Trimble's takeover.Speaking of features i really would like to understand why the development of dynamic components has been abandoned right after the release in SU7 (?) years ago. The interface and functionality is just laughable compared to other solutions and i think there would be many possibilities if this would be improved in the right way.
