Old Pro 8 download
-
Hi
A long time since I have been on here and wondered if you might help. I am an old Pro 8 user and have now retired from professional work. I do however use my sketchup for personal use and for friends projects etc. I have just purchased a new computer (laptop) and would like to install my old version of Pro 8 as I still use the Layout function. I cannot seem to find a way of downloading a Pro 8 version (64bit) from the Trimble site. Any ideas where I can go for this or am I just a old dinosaur ?
TIA for any advice.

Before you get too involved in looking for SU8 Pro, you should read this. You should also understand that SU8 doesn't support the current operating systems so you if you do get a copy of it, it may not work correctly The official download options are shown on this page.
Thank you Dave. I suppose it's what I expected the answer to be !! As you suggested there are quite a few options and the most sensible is to use the 'Make' free version although I will miss the layout Thanks for taking the time to reply. Just another quick question - can you install plugins when using the free version?

You're quite welcome, Patrick.
Yes, you can install plugins in Make but make sure you are installing fresh copies as the Ruby version has changed since SU8. Since you say you have a new computer, I expect you don't have copies of the plugins from your old SU8 install which is good.
Plugins/Extensions can be installed automatically via Extension Warehouse (Window menu in SU) and through the Sketchucation Plugin Store which can be gotten from the Resources menu at the top of the screen. Both of these do installation automatically and painlessly. One of the benefits of leaving SU8 in the dust.

Again many thanks for the good advice. My old Pro 8 is unrecognisable with the amount of plugins and rubys I had installed so, as you suggest I need to start afresh and as I have now retired I have lots of time to do it....trots off to put some coffee on ...!!!
All the best, P -
consider paying for the upgrade to v15 Pro while you can, I think you and your new system deserve it as a retirement gift...
