Importing vismat into sketchup issue
-
Hi Folks
I started using Sketchup for the first time this week so I'm a bit of a novice so bare with me
I'm creating a new material in my model, for examples sake we will call it windowframes...so I create that through the SU material editor.. Now I want to apply my wooden vismat material to it,so I open the vray material editor, find windowframes and import my texture..
Now the issue I have is when I click import or apply my vismat to windowframes, instead of the material texture been shown, the object I'm applying the vismat to just reverts to the standard dark grey/blue colour which SU uses by default... If I render the material will show there, but not as I'm working in the current scene, its just the default SU colour..
Can anyone help me out, advice much appreciated

Sounds like you changed your Viewport viewing style in SketchUp to show Monochrome mode. Just change the viewing style to Texture mode.

Thank you for your reply Valerostudio..It doesn't seem to be that as I had ''shaded with textures'' selected..I cant for the life of me figure it out lol,Ive just installed it a couple of days ago so most settings are default..
For example if I apply a brick finish to a wall from the Sketchup paint bucket it will appear with no issues in the current scene..however if I proceed to open my Vray Material Editor,go to my brick material which I have used, then click import material and open my vismat brick material..as soon as I click open,in the scene the brick finish will disappear from the wall I was working and and it reverts to the default Sketchup material colour/dark grey colour for some reason instead of being updated with the vismat material...

When you import a Vray material it automatically will add the Diffuse layer to SU's material Palette. So just import your Wood vray material and then use SU to paint it on your windowframes.

Thanks guys all sorted now..Hopefully I wont have to come back with too many more questions
