Graphic Performance

That's a good idea trying other models.
Now what you can do is remove all your plugins or disable them and see if the problem persists, then add them back until you find the culprit.
If you look in the Sketchucation Plugin Store it will show plugins by update. try the last ones first.
Well, I have tried disabling all of my plugins and I still had the same problem. I even tried on a SU 2014 model and got the same results.
One thing I found interesting. I went back in an enabled all of the plugins, restarted SU and then reloaded my model. My first attempts to orbit the model were fine. Then I used the middle mouse wheel to zoom in and out and the delay started happening again.
I am stumped as to what could be causing the delay (and it is not just with textures) in repainting the model when I orbit, pan or zoom.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

lets see a list of processes that are going on. did you use the task manager to look at the system resources while you experienced the issue?

you surely have checked already that "Window > Preferences > OpenGL > USe Hardware Acceleration" is enabled...
... and that, if using a double-GPU system with an integrated e.g. intel GPU and the dedicated nVidia GPU, SketchUp is running on the GeForce and not the internal (slow) GPU e.g. if running in power-saving mode.
Check the 3D Settings in the nVidia Control Panel for configuring that 3D applications in general and SketchUp in particular always use the GeForce instead of the automatic mode which tends to fail especially under W7:

Yes - my settings are exactly as you suggest. It was one of the first things I went and checked because I thought maybe a Windows update had somehow changed something. I also went and checked that I have the latest driver for my graphics card.
I am confused as to why this just started happening. I also disabled all of the plugins to see if one of them may be causing the change. So far, I still have not identified why the change in performance. I am scratching my head trying to figure this out.
I really appreciate the response though.

have you tried a system restore?

No - I have not tried that. Just to make sure, are you talking about a complete Windows restore or something else?
-
yes, a system restore. it should not effect files. but restore back to a point before this happened?

When I went to do that it told me that it would reinstall Windows 8.1 and that I would have to reinstall all of my apps. That is not good. I am not going to go that far back.
The other thing I remembered doing lately was to sign up for Dropbox. I went in and disabled it and a couple of other things lists as "high" in the startup list. I then restarted Windows and am not seeing any change. I am getting frustrated by all of this

You're on windows 8? Are you sure you tried to restore and not tried to repair?

I thought that is what it said. I clicked on the option that said my files would not be bothered but it went on to say it would reinstall Windows 8.1 and I would have to reinstall all apps.

I have 7 and that's not how it works...

I finally found the correct link for Win 8.1 restore.........
I am seeing no change in SU. Still seeing a lag when I orbit that I did not see before.

That's it... We're formatting this mutha!

are you using the same style in all these models?

Yes, it is the same one I have been using for over 2 years now. Nothing in that realm has changed (that I am aware of). I first noticed this when I brought up a model I had been using for a few weeks (tweaking/cleaning up now and then). Fortunately the lag is not very long (couple of seconds) but it is still annoying and I would like to know why it has started.
Generally I do not work with this type of model but I am trying to set up a model that I can used in something like Lumion, LumenRT or another such program to do a walk through of a car wash.
-
qany model can be used in those systems... why would you need a special one?
and can you try using a simple plain style and test?
-
Normally I just put together what is called the "tunnel equipment". That is the equipment you see if you drive through the car wash. I have been working on a sample model that includes the building, the room of support equipment, the office for the car wash, and the lobby. On the outside of the building I also include both the payment booth and the vacuum system. When I put all of this together I wind up with a SU file just under 30Mb.
That is where I suddenly see the lag in performance.
I will send you a PM with a link to 2 versions of the file (Lumion & LumenRT). The model has a bunch of edges and other little things I have been trying to clean up.
-
But do you get the lag in a small simple su file?

No.....and it only started on the larger files recently.
