3D warehouse search has failed...
-
I suddenly get"3D warehouse search has failed. Please check your internet connection" when I try to use the Component browser. Never had this happen before. I've tried turning off AVG and my Windows 8 firewall. Extension warehouse works fine, as does everything else internet related on my computer. I's been more than a day so far. Anybody out there help me? I'm at a loss.
Thanks,

What version of SketchUp? If it is SU2013 or earlier, the failure is expected. See this for information.
It would be helpful if you completed your profile with SU version and OS.

Ah, well. That would explain it, wouldn't it. Thanks so much for helping me out. Been reading your posts for a long time. SU 2013, Windows 8.1 or 2, whichever is most current. I just renewed my license, but should be able to upgrade to 2015 for free, right? Any helpful hints for the migration? Got a ton of plugins, spacemouse set up, lots of templates, hot keyes and settings in SU 2013 and Layout. Right in the middle of two jobs as well. How can I make this as painless as possible? Again, thanks so much for that link. Didn't come up on any of the searches I did.

Glad that sorted it. As for upgrading to SU2015 for free, you'll have to see what the SketchUp folks say.
As for migrating to SU2015, you can copy materials and styles but I would strongly suggest that you install fresh copies of all plugins. Don't just copy the old Plugins over. No offense but if you missed the various notifications of the end of Web-based resources for SU8 and 2013, it's likely you've also missed updates on plugins you have installed. It might seem like it would be more painful to install fresh copies but you'll save yourself lots of trouble if you do.
If you made a custom template to open when you start SketchUp and you wish to keep it, open a fresh session in SU2013 and immediately save the file someplace like your desktop. Then open SU2015 and open the file you just saved. Right away hit File>Save as Template and save the blank drawing file.
You'll have to set out toolbars again. there's no migrating those. I find it easiest to take a screen shot of the old installation and import that as an image into the new installation. That makes it easy to place toolbars in the same place as I had them in the previous installation.

Yeah, thanks. I was afraid that was the way it was gonna go. Everything is actually nice and current. Picture of desktop is a good idea. Upgrade was no problem with SU people. Well, I'll just bite the bullet then. Hate doing this kind of thing. Fortunately it's only every couple of years.

Well, you can take your time to do all of this stuff because the new installation doesn't overwrite the older version.
Maybe as far as the plugins are concerned, anyway, this is a good time to do some housekeeping and omit plugins you don't use. If you're anything like me, there're plugins you've installed but don't use.
Also you might take some time to think about what tools you need on your toolbars. For example, I replaced the Large Toolset with a pair of custom toolbars. I omitted Orbit and Pan because there's no need for them as buttons on a toolbar. Since I don't use the Dimension or Text tools in SketchUp, I omitted them, too. That gives more real estate for other tools that I do use.

Hai there,
I am BsY, have issues with Sketchup 2014.
sometime when i open 3d warehouse from Sketchup,
the window appear like normal but when i input phrase for searching,
the window become blank and no result appear.
my workaround is i open a new sketchup file just to browse the warehouse
i cannot download from google web warehouse, as the downloaded file can only be opened by using skethchup 2015 (my version is 2014) -
Try updating Internet Explorer and clear the temporary internet files.
As for downloading directly from the web, choose the version you need to suit the SketchUp version.

[attachment=0:3iypz9za]<!-- ia0 -->Capture.PNG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:3iypz9za]thanks Dave for fast reply
For your information, i have update my Internet Explorer. I already clear the temporary internet files.
The warehouse then can be open, but after few trial, it cannot connect to the webpage again.
thanks for the tip of choosing the version, I am unaware of that features since i normally download at the main page
i will download from the webpage as optionalFYI
another workaround i did is installing Sketchup Make 2016, just to use the warehouse from the program. but for that, i need to save the file as Sketchup 2014. I cannot directly copy and paste
ETC:
i did notice that Sketchup 2016 64bit can preview the file, which cannot be done on Sketchup 2014
