Dashed Lines / custom lines
-
Hi,
I am looking for a plugin ( sorry, extension) that does Dashed Lines for sectional work. I came across DashedLines from Todd Burch which looks the business, although I have not tried it yet, from a search in a previous post. ('Pen tool-guild draw' works well but is restricted to single dashed line type, as does 'convert to construction line' (also 2D tools is good but does not lengthen the dashes it widens them from what I could see and I have to have textures on)) (Smustard.com to purchase) Before I purchase it, does any one know if this works ok with SU 2015 pro? Can I install it in the traditional way without me having to re position all my tool bars? ( it not in the warehouse or the very loved 'Plugin Store') While I am asking, is there any other plugin that would work for me?

2D Tools by TIG ?
Color Edge by C Plassais -
Bruce, the Dashed Line plugin by Todd Burch will work in SU2015 but it doesn't sound like what you want. It works by dividing selected edges into a string of short segments and then it hides every other segment. You could try this manually and see if it will serve your purpose before you buy.
As for installing it, I believe it still downloads as a .rb file. You can either manually install it to the appropriate folder or once you have it, compress it into a zip file, rename the file from .zip to .rbz and use Install Extension from Preferences>Extensions. There is no toolbar to worry about but even if there was, it wouldn't scramble your existing toolbars.

By the way, did you see Kyle's post with the dashed line style he made in Style Builder? Maybe it would work or you could certainly make your own dashed lines with it.

Thanks to all,
I did not see Kyles post, thanks for the heads up( i will search for it). I have never used style builder and I need to test it out and see if it works for me. Thanks again. (If I am successful with SB I will post my results.)

Sorry Bruce. I should have posted a link. Here you go. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40%26amp;t=28125#p571628
I played with making a dashed line style and it does work.

Or try these ones, Bruce. I made them last week in Xara which has some cool options for altering line types....
