How to view custom materials on 3D model in browser?
-
Hopefully someone can point me into the right direction for this idea, if possible at all
I have a SketchUp model of, let's say, a cube. This cube must be viewed in a webbrowser with simple 3D controls like zoom, rotate. Now for the good stuff: I want to be able to let my colleagues upload 6 different .JPG or .PNG files ("custom materials") for each side of the cube (via HTML form). After uploading the images, the webbrowser must show the cube with the uploaded images for each side. The user then must be able to rotate and zoom the object.
I am able to run SketchUp Pro on a Win2012 server machine which also acts like a (intranet) webserver (IIS). It would be nice if I can keep everything in-house, without any online services.
For what I've learned by now, I should use Ruby for scripting?
I also have V-Ray for SketchUp, would it be possible to get a more realistic rendering via V-Ray in the webbrowser? What do I need to accomplish above scenario?
Thank you for your suggestions!

A programmer specialising in WebGL would be your best option.

Thank you. Would WebGL be the only way to get a SketchUp model with dynamic textures viewable in the browser? Or maybe there are any third-party solutions that you know of?

It would be the best solution to loading a model into a browser.
There's lots of solutions out there but I know of none that do precisely what you want.
It a very custom process you are seeking. Custom processes naturally need custom programming.

I will look into your suggestion. Thank you Rich!
