This is a stool designed and made by Christian Becksvoort. I drew this model for plans published by The Taunton Press.

IS NICE and nice style. Is there a method a DIY woodworker can make the curved wood seat? Would be fun to make a couple of those.

          Thank you, Peter.

As for the seat, the one in the plan is made up of bent and glued veneers--sort of a home made plywood bent over a form. Then it is upholstered with foam and leather. All within the reach of a DIYer in a home shop.

One way of making a curved seat might be with the use of something like the X-Carve.

True that, Mike. If you had a CNC machine in your shop, you could certainly cut the shape that way.

Yes for that manner with hand tools one could cut a series of arc-shaped pieces and laminate them (or get them done at a [friend's?] shop then laminate and finish at home).

Dave, cool stool, really like the first image. Fyi curved seat for us old guys means drawknife, spokeshaves and compass planes!

You ought to take a look at this. No drawknife, spokeshave or compass plane. πŸ˜‰

Excuse my ignorance but what does NPR mean in this context? I have seen others refer to npr but the only definition I know is National Public Radio. Just curious.

I always think of Public Radio when I see it, too. In this context it stands for Non-Photo Realistic.
