Using Sketchup for non profit
-
Hello everyone out there in Sketchup land.
I'm trying to help my work replan some office spaces to see if we can fit furniture and assess how much space we have to play with. I thought using Sketchup would be ideal but I see that it might not be possible, as the professional version costs. I work for a not for profit charity and would only be using Sketchup as a space calculator really.
Does anyone know if this is possible and, if not, whether there is other software I can use or if there is another workaround?Looking forward to hearing from you all.

You or your attorney should read Trimble's license and reach your own opinion, but it is my understanding that the professional version is required only if you will be using SketchUp as a tool in conducting your business. It doesn't sound like that is what you are doing.

Yeah you won't get an answer on this from anyone directly involved with Sketchup, whatever they say could be viewed as official policy.
My reading of it is if you aren't using if for commercial gain then the free version is ok. ie: you draw up some plans to work out your space, unless you sell those plans to someone there is no commercial gain. But there are many and varied legal loopholes and strangleholds tied up with all of that.
Sketchup does grant non profit licenses, so if you feel you need to you can contact them directly.
