      Hey Guys!

I got a request to do a product video, where i will use a flythrough a room and blinking screens and "glowing data packets" going trhough pipes.

All this want to do in Vray + Sketchup + After Effects, hahaha!

I thought of a workflow like this:

Set up skp-scene and camera path
      Render Video in Vray
Import in After Effects and use camera 3D tracking to find all my objects in the room i want to use.
make all the blinking, glowing etc with after effects masks, paths etc.

Is this a workflow you would say yes to?

I came up with this workflow because i think that:

      1. skp doesnt allow object moving animations
      2. vray is not able to render my whole room into a 3d-file i can import in after effects!? what would be actually awesome.
      3. which other way would there be to tell after effects where i want my animations to be placed?

Any suggestions on this topic? easier ways to do it?
And one other question: How would i bring a moving slhouette to the film? 😄

Here is a mockup video of my flythrough:

      Thanks in advance guys!

might be possible to do that with Sketchup and Vray, i dont know...
but to me that seems like trying to cut meat with a spoon, each software has its strengths

if you can afford it, i would advise Cinema 4D + Vray for C4D.
in my personal opinion C4D is easier to learn than other motion graphics software and if you know the basics about Vray4Sketchup, you'll do just fine with Vray4C4D

you can model in Sketchup, export a 3DS file to C4D, render the animation, and then you can export your animation with the motion tracking directly to After Effects, so all you have to do in AE is the glowing part and video effects

i hope im not stating anything wrong, because i've never done such an animation myself, but i've seen other people in the office doing that, and if i recall correctly that was their workflow

          hi!

thanks for the advice. I know it´s easier possible that way, since c4d is designed for that.

It´s just that i am more or less trying to test out sketchup for all it can do (+plugins) and where the restrictions really lie.

In the end i maybe have to do it the c4d-way, but first i would like to test it with sketchup+vray.

          cheers

well... i think you can animate objects with plugins like SketchyPhysics
and i think you can render SketchyPhysics' animations with other renderers like Thea or Twilight

i've never seen anyone render that kind of animations with Vray, but im a basic Vray user, so i dont know

good luck, i guess some of the more experienced guys in this forum may have a better advice
