FAK is by now a very old script.
        There are better alternatives.

Well with the 'normal' vector set to z [0,0,1] you get the face kept flat, so the extrusion properly done.
The extruded face is continually 'flat'.
Try setting an x or y and you'll get different results.
Alternatively a simple native FollowMe will keep a consistent cross-section but inevitably the extrusions will twist as it progresses along the path...

You could also look at copying the profile face onto the end of the path, oriented as you'd like the extrusion to finish, then using CurviLoft, to loft along the path using those two profiles as start/finish faces...

Don't forget you'll also need to have LibFredo installed...

              That didn't sound right.

Have you tried Tig's extrude edges by face.

It seems to be an orientation problem. In your model, I copied the face and curve, rotated both face and curve so that the face was upright. Then rotated just the face so that it was perpendicular to the first edge and FAK worked.

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.

Thank you all for your help.

As a matter of fact, as sdmitch noticed, it looks like I was starting with a wrong orientation of the face 😳 .

To help you understand what I'm trying to do see the picture.
With a correct angle for the starting face native follow me tool does the job.

@ Box : YES I have but as long as the starting face was badly oriented....

                  Thanks again!

Yes, with the native FollowMe you need the profile face to be square to the first segment of the path.
My ExtrudeEdgesByFace will actually do that for you [doh!] πŸ˜’
