I've been getting some long hang times for changing layers for groups and components. For larger moves (more groups or polygons) it's taking over a minute. I don't recall this being so long before. Is this a general problem, or a personal one?

        I don't see that happening.
Have you Purged / Fixed the model in case there's something awry ?

Doesn't help to purge and fix (no problems). I am finding this in different files. Duration seems to be dependent on the size (in polygons, we're not talking that big) of the component. I get the spinning beach ball long after the status bar is blank.

HOWEVER if I change the component's layer in the entities window, it's instantaneous. Of course I am going to use that from now on, but for me the contextual pull-down method is good as useless except for the simplest object (cube).

Oh my. Glad I looked at this. It appears use of the contextual "Put on Layer" is moving all nested components and RAW geometry to that layer! Really? I never...

So this contextual place on layer is a plugin by Dik Harrison. I don't recall ever having loaded this plugin. But I have always had it... πŸ˜• (I freshly uploaded plugins for 2015, one by one)

The SCF manager gives the plugin a date in 2013 (too old) but the info is all older than that. I'll just stay away from this.
