Hi everyone. Totally new. Very green. Don't know anything so starting at Zero...

I'm trying to open the 'Centroid find centre' extension, just downloaded.
      Using Mac OS 10.6.8, SU7.

Got extension on desktop, I go into SU preferences, but Im not being given an "install extension" button.

Probably got wrong extension type or something. Does it exist for Free SU?

      Any help much appreciated. Thanks,

The auto-intallation of an RBZ's files only came in with SUp v8M2 [several years ago!]
You say you have SUp v7 !
Why don't you upgrade to something a bit newer ?

BUT... if you insist on using ye olde v7...
You can change the RBZ file-type suffix to ".zip", then extract its contents.
Put the extracted files into your Plugins folder and restart SketchUp... [remember to keep any support files in their subfolder[s] - if appropriate - your MAC extractor might not be very sensible ! ]

Thanks TIG..in my plugins tab, I only have "cost" and "model on ocean floor", cant seem to import the (unzipped) files..

I realise I'm showing myself up here. I'm used to that. 😎

SUp Make 2015 needs OS 10.8 or later, my mac won't let me get that. It's a world of pain, just need the centroid thing for the time being.

          Thanks for your help!

To find the correct Plugins folder path, use this in the Ruby Console:
            Sketchup.find_support_file('Plugins')

Move the extracted plugin file[s] into that folder and restart SketchUp.

Note that not all plugins will appear in the Plugins menu - read the plugin's usage notes - some can appear under Tools, Draw etc... !

Where did you get this RBZ from ?
What does its usage notes say about it ??

Ok, unzipped plugin, found where it goes using the Ruby Console, put it in there. Re started SUp, can't find it anywhere in any of any of it.

RBZ was from SUp site, legit download.

The only useful bit in the notes is...

"2. Select "Get Face Centroid" from the context menu."

There is a "face" option under the EDIT drop down, that has more options after it, but no "get face centroid".

I'll keep tinkering, please keep hitting me with help, I love it.

              Thanks..!

Try right clicking down on a face, see if it appears in the contextual menu.

The guidance notes tell you how to use it.
Select a Face - nothing else [just the one face - not its edges etc].
If the face is inside a group/component edit that to access the face itself.
                    Right-mouse-click > context-menu [or however you get the context-menu on your MAC version alt+click, opt+click ??]
There should be an option to 'find the centroid of face' [don't know what it's called as you haven't told us...]
It is NOT the Edit menu [although that does mimic much of the context-menu...] - use the Context-menu...

                      It's working! Woop woop!
I re jigged where I placed the rbx files, put them in the main plug in folder instead of in plugins>folder>rbzfolder>rbzfile

                      sheesh.

Thank you very very much for your help everyone. I really appreciate it.

I'm doing some naval architecture calcs. Might post the results when it's done.

                      thank you!
