      Hey,

I have used sketchup for a while now, never had any problems until I tried the 2014 version with my new mouse. It's a logitech G600 and in the newer versions of sketchup it won't zoom in or out when using the mouse wheel. I can orbit with it, but zooming is not an option. I have gone back to sketchup 2008 and there the mouse works fine. I have looked around a bit and found that many logitech mouses have isues with zooming. So I deleted the logitech software to see if it was a driver problem, but it did not help.
Any ideas in how to solve this problem?

Drivers seem to be the most likely issue but if that's not it, try out the smooth zoom plugin (I forget who wrote it). Just a stab in the dark but it might work.

edit: otherwise just hit "z" for zoom. There won't be much of a difference in time/effort if you get used to it. I feel like there's another way to zoom with the mouse, but I can't remember and couldn't find it by experimenting, so maybe I'm imagining it.

With the mouse wheel, you can zoom and orbit while drawing with other tools in parallel, if you switch ti the zoom tool, you will loose this possibility and I think you will be slower...

@Deftig: Maybe the driver has changed the function for the middle mouse wheel/button and this change is still there after the deinstallation of the driver?

Also, using the mouse wheel to zoom makes the camera zoom toward or away from the cursor. selecting the Zoom tool from the menu, toolbar or keyboard shortcut means you give up that functionality.

Hey, I got the idea it must be a win 8.1 + driver problem. Have tested an other logitech mouse on my own computer and got the same problem, so it's not just the g600 that does it. Now I just gotten to work where we use a mac and installed a trial version of sk2015 and here the logitech mouse works just fine. So I'm going to remove the logitech drivers and hope for the best.

                Solved the problem:

After a while I nearly gave up on fixing the problem. But now I have found the solution. It was not a driver isue as I first thought. After deleting all the drivers and plugging in a generic computer mouse, sketchup would still not zoom when scrolling. So my next step was to question windows 8.1 and I quickly came to the answer: When you install a program that makes it possible to scroll on inactive windows (in my case: katmouse) it can cause this kind of problem.

Just thought it was worth sharing.
