What function do the file locations located at Preferences/File Locations perform?

If I put in a folder other than the default, it is not recognized.

For example: If I put in "C:\Dropbox\Components", SU does not recognized that location as the source and, instead, lists the default Components. Since I have renamed the Components folder in C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015 to "Components - Original", where is SU getting the components??

I think these might be better named "Save" Locations. These are the locations used whenever you save something out of the model. As far as I can tell, anyway.

As Jim says - these folder-paths setup the starting folder presented to you in the 'Save' dialogs when you save/export one of those types - e.g. Component > Save... should start in your specified Dropbox folder...
SketchUp will always include the default Components folder's contents in the Components-Browser dialog.
You can add additional folders to your listed Components setup...
These should be remembered across sessions ?
