Are there any plugins for placing a single cpoint?

Have you tried ThomThom's Guide Tools? It's available in the EW and the Plugin Store. It might be able to do what you want.
You could try copying Point Tool over and see what happens.

The 'PointTool.rb' file and its supporting folder 'PointTool' [containing its Toolbar icon file] could be manually copied into your newer versions of Sketch Plugins folder without problems...
Although it's five years old, it's a relatively simple tool and is unlikely to bring up incompatibility issues...
However, the newest version of it can easily be installed from the SketchUcation PluginStore AutoInstaller - Search under 'PointTool': or its RBZ can be downloaded from http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=PointTool if you want to do it manually using the Preferences > Extensions > Install... button or the SketchUcation submenu > Archive Installer...

Or get Rich's "Pen Tools" which, along with all the other goodies, has a "Point Pen".
