How to install surveytool plugin in SketchUp 2015?

I'm new to the forum, and I could use some help installing the surveytool plugin by J. Wehby into SketchUp 2015. I've used this plugin for several years in SketchUp 8. I finally got a new computer and have upgraded to SketchUp 2015. I've managed to install most of my favorite plugins/extensions, but I cannot figure out this one. My "new" computer is a refurbished Dell laptop workstation 64-bit PC running Windows 7 Professional.

Alternatively, if there is a newer plugin that does the samething and is easier to install, that would be great, too. But I like how simple and straightforward this one is.

Download it and place it in the plugins folder.
Now found at C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\SketchUp\Plugins

I tested it and it works in 2015.
What problem are you having installing it?

If you are worried about opening that folder you can always ZIP the RB file you download from http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_details.php?id=434 then change its file-type ending to .RBZ

It can then be automatically installed in your default Plugins folder using the Preferences > Extensions > Install button... or why not try the SketchUcation submenu Archive Installer [using this tool you can install directly from a ZIP archive, so the renaming of it as an RBZ is not needed...]

Remember the 'Survey Tool' appears under the 'Draw' menu not 'Plugins' [which is now confusingly renamed 'Extensions' in v2015!]...

I too can confirm that it works in v2015...

Hello Arkose, Welcome to the forum... I take it you're doing some rather serious land planning, if you're using actual surveys. You mentioned other tools so I'm going to give you a quick run down a of a few of my favorites for building land in SU.

Survey Tool is great for making a precise plat. Of course you know about this already, but for others reading along.

Our friend TIG, that you met above has a handy tool for professionals called CutNfill. Lots of people build a pretty topo and stick a house on it, but CutNfill allows you to determine and control the volume of soil/material you're working with. This is a Professional tool as it's only really needed by those doing professional work. Still it's only $20.

Vali Architect has a few plugins that go along with land building in SU. Instant Grader, Instant Road and Instant Terrain. These come in varying prices and sadly are subscription based, but good tools for speeding up workflow. I suggest going full monty and getting the architecture bundle if you do architecture as well as land. It will come with a fence and wall tool that goes well with landscaping work.

I have been using this tool in SU 8 and SU 2015.
A search of the plugin store doesn't find it.
I thought I got it through SketchUcation. Did SketchUcation use to have it? And now gone?

I never properly thanked Box, TIG, and Krisidious for your prompt and generous help over a year ago. I was on a tight work deadline. Needless to say, it worked.

I was reminded of my oversight recently when I upgraded to Windows 10 and Sketchup 2016, and I was faced with the same problem. I forgot my prior inquiry on Sketchucation, but found it very helpful when I ran across it again! It took me a minute to realize that I had asked the question initially.

I did the same thing all over, downloading the file and placing and it in the Plugins folder. It seems to work just fine.

I'll be at Sketchup Basecamp 2016 in a few weeks. Will any of you be there?
