I'm a technology education teacher in a junior high school here in NJ using Sketchup for the 1st time. As much as I'm loving the ease of transitioning into Sketchup from Vectorworks and AutoCAD, I cannot get a hold of the parameters of printing to scale. Be it at home on a PC, or here at school on MAC's, nothing is working. Every once in awhile I get 1 to work correctly, but have 99 that don't.

On the MAC's, I'll switch to parallel projection, pick the print scale (which doesn't seem to save) go thru with the printing....and its at the wrong scale. I need to have these to a proper scale to correctly grade the drawings. Everything That I've read or googled makes it seem so easy.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

      Joe

        Hi Joe,
I'd recommended you use Layout (comes with Pro) to do your printing. In Layout you can have a viewport to your SketchUp model and choose the scale there. In Layout you can also add in text easier, create a presentation to include any notes, scales, legends, etc.
I never print directly from SketchUp.

          Joe,

How big are the things you're trying to print and at what scale?

Your profile indicates you're using the pro version of SketchUp. If that's so, you'll find the easiest thing to do is create a scene in SketchUp using Parallel Projection, export LayOut and then set the viewport in LayOut to the desired scale.

It can be done directly in SketchUp but there are a few more hoops to jump through.

Quantj and Dave R., thanks for your replies. I'm currently using Sketchup Pro 13. All of our drawings have to fit on standard 8 1/2" x 11" paper and usually using 1" to 1" (or full size) scale, or possibly 1/2 scale if needed. I'll take a look at Layout & see what I come up with.

            Thanks again,

            Joe

I think that'll be your best solution but I sent you a PM with more info that could be useful.

                Dave,
Thanks so much for the added tips! Printing thru Layout is so much easier to use. Just to have these drawings printed out to scale is a blessing.
                Thanks again,

                Joe
