[Plugin][$] VisuHole - v1.5a - 01 Apr 24

Grooving (edge extruding) is for sure in Top of the most missing features (among true curves, saving in background, and multiple curves as one profile path for example). None of existing scripts is close to workable level (say, comparable to JPP)

I am having problems with this program in drilling more that one hole. I have a pair of 4x4x1/2 angles next to each other, 1" apart. I mark each hole location with a guide point. I can make one hole, but cannot make any other of the holes.
I would like to mark all the holes, like 10 to 20 and just run down the line drilling holes into the angle at each guide point location.
Things I have tried.
-
guide points in and out of group selection and using a line end to mark the locations.
-
Separte groups selected or grouping both angle group in one large group.
-
If I click on the "Recurse from..." selection after each hole I can continue making one another hole. After this new hole I need to click on one of the "Recurse from..." to make another hole.
-
Note, if I make a the second selection that is not on a guide point I can make a hole, but I cannot make two selections using the guide points as reference.
-

Ken,
Could you post the model.
I am not sure I understand well, so it will help me to figure out.
Many thanks

OK, here is the model. It has four version of the angles.
- Blue is the two angles 1" apart
- Yellow is the angles with a guide line and guide points where the holes are to be drilled
- Red is the failure, after one hole on the guide points.
- Green is what success should looks like. I can continue making holes if I keep selecting the "Recurse...." option. If I don't do the re-clicking of the "Recurse..." button, I never get the blue bonding box of a group, just the ghost lines. With the ghost lines I cannot make another hole.
Hope this help.

Ken,
OK. Got it. and it makes a lot of sense.

Thanks you Fredo. It works just like I need.
Short story. I have had this plugin on my computer for sometime, I never could get it to drill consistance holes. So I started this new project and I have way to many holes to drill holes as I have been doing. So I made a concerted effort to learn the plugin. I knew the problem was with me, because no one else was complaining. Than I found one of my problems, the "group in" and "group out". Didn't quite understand what was happening there. Figured that out and watch the video over and over. Trying to see the exact setup in the menu.
The other times I just gave up, had stuff to do. But this time I just kept at it. Then I found the post about guidelines and guide points. Then I knew it should work with more that one guideline or point. So now I knew I wasn't the problem.
I am grateful for all of your plugins.

Bonjour Fredo,

cutting crossing window\polyline would be amazing spin-off.

And on top of that, it does a chamfering of the intersection!
...and keep everything as a solid!
what else? -
actually when I thought for 2nd time (after first wows!) I realized it hardly can be a precise tool- not so suitable for archviz (my case). could be good for conceptual doodling.

I feel like playing in the schoolyard when seeing these videos.
Must be a trick, because the first time I played with Blender, I gave up after 2 hours and never came back. -
well after watching those ones I have rough idea what indians felt seenig gunned conquistadors on horses for a first time

I have some some great uses for this plugin in my modeling, thanks. But when using Drill thru with nested components I get expected results. When using carve I do not see the colors of the nested components. To see the colors I would need to go clean up the model. Is this to be expected with this plugin or operator error? Top model in my example has been cleaned up.

Yes, when the carving has the same size that the component, you need some cleanup of the thin faces left over by VisuHole. Unfortunately, the intersection in Sketchup is not always predictable for these special cases, and also, since components are separate, you may not want the cleanup.

Thanks for all your plugins and your support!

Fredo,
Hope you got time for this, because it feels so close...anyway, can you confirm that you're able to make up new stencils and have them work as "punches?" I've found this only works for me if I use your "stock" three sample stencils - the ones you provided as defaults. It lets me pick a new shape that turns yellow and shows all signs of being ready to make a hole, but when I double-click, or try to "orient," etc...no hole results...just a "time elapsed" display.
I also have some Sketchucation plugins-vs-extensions issues/possible confusion. Plugin manager shows current 2/4 version. Later, after finding I was still having problems, I noticed the SUcation Extensions manager still showed the old version (now disabled). I keep thinking there's a need to delete/uninstall old versions, not just disable. Apparently one can disable a plugin and still find that it shows up as the old version, active, but in the SUcation extensions manager. Confusing, to me, anyway.

I have the very same problem. Haven't managed even all default shapes, circle yes and polygon yes, but rectangle doesn't drill. Neither does my shape. (Rougly - looks like letter "T").
I'm trilling through a floor made of 700 planks.
Pants, did you manage to drill yours?
